Deer hunt total rises by 33 from yesterday

The number of deer harvested in Adair County in 2007 has risen by 33 from yesterday's total of 504.
The total listed at the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Saturday, November 17, 2007, is 537. Males taken now total 286 or 53.3%; females 251 or 46.7 %.

By weapon type, the figures are firearm, 438; archery, 54; muzzleloader, 38; and crossbow, 7.

The Homemakers of Adair County held their annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Adair County Extension office on Fairground Street, Columbia, KY.

Thanksgiving may still be 4 days away but at the Columbia Extension Office it was all about Christmas.

Obituary: Prof. Rodney K. Ivery, 94, beloved educator

He contributed to the educational advancement of many young people through the years
Many are saddened by the eternal homegoing of Professor Rodney K. Ivery, Campbellsville, KY, on Tuesday, November 13, 2007. He was 94.

Prof. Ivery, as many knew him, was a highly beloved educator. He was an early teacher and administrator at theCampbellsvilleDurhamHigh School, successful basketball coach, and taught in the integrated public schools several decades ago.

Congratulations to Chris and Amy Melton on the birth of their new baby girl, Kendall Brooke Melton, born November 15, 2007.

Kendall Brooke weighed 8 pounds 15 ounces.

ACHS Band one of 30 competing in BOA semi-finals, Sat. AM

Kentucky has two of 30 semi-finalists who competed this morning: Adair County and Bourbon County. Bourbon County is under the direction of Adair Countian Eric Hale.
Word from Bands of America National Contest, Indianapolis: The Adair County Marching Band performed at 8:30am this morning. They were one of 30 bands competing in the semi-finals, according to information relayed from Susan Lynn Barbee at Ol' Joes B&B Barbecue in Columbia, KY.

The Semi-Finals Award Presentation is at around 4:00pm this afternoon, at which time it will be known whether not Adair County, and/or Eric Hale's Band, will be in the finals.

Susan Lynn Barbee received the information in a call to Lesha Breeding in Indianapolis.

KY 61 bid awarded November 15, 2007

A reliable source, K.I. Riddle, said this morning, Saturday, November 17, 2007, that the KY 61 project was awarded yesterday, Friday, November 16, 2007, in Frankfort.

The project is 6.25 miles long, from 1000 feet south of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway to the new section of KY 61 which extends south from Sparksville through Breeding through Metcalfe County, another part of Adair County, and thence into the Renox Valley of Cumberland County to Jones Chapel United Methodist Church.

Coumbia-Adair County Fire Department annual pancake fry is now going on today, Saturday November 17, 2007. Doors officially opened at 6:00amCT. Diners will be served until 12:00noonCT at the Fire Station at 200 Merchant Street.

The price is low: All you can eat for $5.00. All proceeds go to the 2008 Crusade for Children. Extra donations go to the 2008 Crusade for Children.

Prayer for Mitzi: Surgery is today at noon

The family of Mitzi Bault asks continued prayers for her as she faces surgery scheduled for noon, today, Saturday, November 17, 2007, at the University of Louisville Hospital. Her mother, Fay McKinley, asked that the family's appreciation for everything done on Mitzi's behalf be expressed. "We are deeply touched by everyone's concern, for everyone who has told us how special Mitzi is," she said. Mitzi's husband, Ricky Bault, remains at her side at UL.

LWC student/family visitation day
Lindsey Wilson College will host visitation days for prospective students and their families on October 20, 2007; November 17, 2007; January 26, 2008; March 29, 2008; and April 19, 2008. The March 29 event is a talent showcase, which allows student-athletes, vocalists, pep band musicians and artists to show off their talents. Each visitation day starts at 9am CT and goes until noon, beginning in the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. The annual Taylor County Homemakers Bake Sale/Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Taylor County Extension Office, 1143 South Columbia Avenue from 8:00amET/7:00amCT until 2:00pmET/1:00pmCT. There will be all kinds of baked goods (Italian Cream & Jam Cakes, fried apple pies, etc.) for the holidays, craft items, holiday decorations, etc. for sale and of course, there will be bean soup and/or chili served for lunch. Coumbia-Adair Co. Fire Dept is having its annual pancake fry on Saturday November 17, 2007 it will be from 6:00amCT untill 12:00noonCT at the Fire Station at 200 Merchant Street. All you can eat for $5.00. All proceeds go to the 2008 Crusade for Children. Directions: From the Columbia, KY Public Square, take Campbellsville ST., to the first light, turn left on Merchant Street, and 200 Merchant ST, Columbia, KY is the first building on the right at the corner of Merchant and Monroe Streets. Remember, every dollar raised in Adair County for the 2008 Crusade for Children comes back to Adair County to aid our children. If you would like to simply send a check to the Adair County 2008 Crusade for Children, use the contact information in the public service announcement below and make checks payable to the Adair County 2008 Crusade for Children.
