Adair County Attorney in Top 10 for child support work - again

Again, for the sixth time, Adair County's Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin is ranks high in the top ten. This year, the Adair County Attorney placed fourth.

SCC announces film contest right up Adair County alley

Somerset Community College 48-Hour Film Festival for novice and professional filmmakers offers unique chance for Adair filmmakers to bring home cinematic glory to rightful home, Columbia! -CM

An organizational meeting of the 48-Hour Film Festival teams will take place in Stoner Little Theatre on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at 7:00pmET/6:00pmCT.

The general rules of the Festival will be reviewed and individual teams will get together to begin pre-planning. The theatre is located in Stoner Hall on the Somerset Community College Somerset Campus.

ACHS SADD, LCAHD team up for Great American Smokeout

Columbia businesses still have time to call and participate in tomorrow's event

The Great American Smokeout Day occurs annually on the third Thursday in November, which, this year, is tomorrow, November 15, 2007.

The American Cancer Society sponsors this event to get people to quit smoking cigarettes for 24 hours or hopefully longer.

Perry Reeder is improving; wife sends thanks for prayers

Ed,

I spoke to Sonja Reeder this morning and she said that Perry was improving. They have moved him to rehab which is still at the Good Samaritan Hospital, but he can not have visitors except for her. He is now eating some solid food but still has a long way to go. She said to thank everyone for what they have done and the prayers.

Justice Center groundbreaking likely in January

Bond sale should begin in late November or early December, 2007

At the recommendation of Branscum Construction Company, with Jeff Cook as spokesman, the Adair County Justice Center Project Development Board (PDB) unanimously voted to accept bids totaling $9,290,043. for the new Adair County Courthouse on a motion member Marshall Loy, seconded by member Doug Teague.

All members were present at the Tuesday, November 13, 2007 special meeting, in addition to Marshall Loy, and Mr. Teague, Ann Melton, Adair County CJE and chair of the PDB; Circuit Judge James G. Weddle, Adair County Circuit Court Clerk Dennis Loy, and Adair County Fifth District Magistrate Doug Teague.

Deer harvest reported to Frankfort grows by 55 to 428

Deer harvest count in Adair County, as of November 13, 2007, up to 428 from 373.

The breakdown now, according to figures at the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife KY Deer Harvest Results at 2:50amCT, on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, was 224 Male, 204 female, with 320 taken by firearm, 53 with archery; 7 crossbow, and 38 muzzleloader.

Chili supper, singing, auction for Perry Reeder Nov. 24, 2007

There will be a benefit auction for Perry Reeder at the Breeding Fire Department at 4:00pm on Saturday, November 24, 2007.

The benefit will include a chili supper starting at 4:00pmCT, singing by Living by Faith Gospel Group, and an auction to start at 6:00pmCT.

Reeder, the Magistrate in District 4 of Adair County, has been hospitalized for more than a month now. All donations will be greatly appreciated and will go toward medical bills.
