ALDUS BROCKMAN USED TO SAY: "I never saw a road I didn't want to go down." This one, Cundiff Road, was one of those roads anyone would want to take on a memory keepsake day like today, to see what's at the foot of the hill and what's along the graceful curve up the next hill. Actually, it's two roads. Across Knifley Road, KY 551, which runs up the valley at the foot of this hill, is Howard Dulin Road, which T's to become continue as Howard Dulin Road or, to the right, Ballou Road. A viewer might want to know what's behind, too: The ancient Cundiff Cemetery, with it's unusual drystone perimeter wall and it's magnificent view afforded in all directions. Pamela Kay York, 53, 178 Colony Drive, Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, October 31, 207, at 10:28am at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 1:00pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Bryant and Bro. Ralph Hadley officiating.

Tommy Grider to be in Walking Horse Hall of Fame

Adair Countian will be in elite circle of thirteen 2008 inductees to Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration Hall of Fame.

SCC Prof. Rivas co-authors part of new textbook about snakes

Jesus Rivas, an Assistant Professor teaching biology at Somerset Community College, co-authored two chapters of a new textbook about Anaconda and Python snakes. The book is entitled Biology of Boas and Pythons.

The editors of Biology of Boas and Pythons are Robert Henderson and Robert Powells. The publisher is Eagle Mountain Publishing.

Gov. Fletcher sends $500,000 more to blacktop Adair roads

Grants not political, CJE says, but she wonders "How anybody in Adair County could even think of voting for anybody else, after all Governor Fletcher has done for us.?"

Drivers on six more Adair County roads will be riding on smooth blacktop as soon as the work can be done, thanks to a $500,000 road grant from Gov. Ernie Fletcher, according to Adair County CJE Ann Melton. The new round of funding brings the total sent to Adair County in October 2007 to $950,000. "That's almost $1,200,000 for the last four months when you add in the $240,00 we received for the Neat Hollow paving and the Scott Hill project," she said. "And that doesn't count the four bridges we've gotten this year."

LWC Soccer (W) Team captures MSC tournament championship

Championship is sixth straight MSC title. Blue Raiders advance to NAIA Region XI semi-finals

The Lindsey Wilson College womens soccer team captured the 2007 Mid-South Conference Tournament on Tuesday night with a 5-0 win over University of the Cumberlands (KY) at Georgetown College Soccer Field.

The top-seeded Blue Raiders add the tournament title to their regular season crown and will now advance to the NAIA Region XI Championships next week at Lindsey Wilson Park.

The Lindsey Wilson College mens soccer team won the 2007 Mid-South Conference Tournament on Tuesday night< October 30, 2007, with a 3-2 win over University of the Cumberlands (KY) at Georgetown College Soccer Field.

The Blue Raiders won an intense battle -- which featured seven red and five yellow cards -- between the top two seeds in the MSC Tournament.

Cody Stagner takes national cycling championship

Bragging rights: Second straight year LWC cyclist has won the title. Andrew Parson won in 2006. It's another reason why, when they ask you where you're from and you say, "Columbia, KY," they say, "Yeah, that's where the Lindsey Wilson cycling team is from." -CM

BANNER ELK, N.C.- Lindsey Wilson College senior Cody Stagner capped the 2007 USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships with an individual national championship on Sunday, October 29, 2007.

Stagner defeated sophomore teammate Weston Pope in the finals of the mens dual slalom to capture the national title. Stagner is the second straight Blue Raiders to capture the crown. Andrew Parson won the title in his senior season last year.

Fall Camp for kids at New Life for the Nations

New LIfe for the Nations will have a fall camp for Children on Friday and Saturday, November 9-10, 2007. Mr. Balloon Man will be here to teach, sing, and do his balloon tricks. Registration is 5:00 Friday evening. Children may stay overnight for more games and crafts, or they may just come or the service. Service is 6:00pmCT, Friday, November 9, 2007, and 8:30amCT on Saturday morning, November 10, 2007. Pick up time is 11:00amCT on Saturday. There is a $5:00 registration fee. Pastor LaVerne will be cooking the traditional camp breakfast with biscuit and gravy, and chocolate gravy for the children. Adults will enjoy these meetings too. -PASTOR GERALD RELIFORD.

Adair School Board meets at ACHS, at 6:00pmCT

The Adair County School Board meets for its first November 2007 meeting tonight, Thursday, November 1, at the Adair County High School Cafeteria instead of the board conference room, and the time is changed to 6:00pmCT, instead of the regular meeting time of 7:00pmCT.The meeting tonight will be with SBDM Councils to discuss test data. The meeting is open to the public.
