McGaha brothers bring family history to mind

By Frank Dickerson
Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

The McGaha brothers added to the Veteran's List reminded me of a bit of family history that may be of interest to others. The three veterans were the sons of Allen and Alta Mae Bryant-McGaha.Two of their other brothers were William Asa, b. 1910 and Ezra Millard McGaha, b. 1912.

On Sunday, May 8, 1927, Asa and Millard rode their horses to Barnett's Creek to visit their grand uncle and aunt, William Thomas and Barbara Delilah McGaha-Dickerson, who were my grandparents. The date was the day my parents, T.J. Dickerson and Letha West, were to be married.

Baby, beloved pet, still gone:
Urgent plea to residents of KY 55/704 Y area

Click Here for photo of Baby and Clarice White.
Baby, the big yellow tabby cat which belongs to Clarice White, is still missing. And her niece is asking everyone to make a special effort to find Baby. Clarice White is scheduled to come home from the hospital today. She doesn't know her beloved Baby is missing. It will be so heartbreaking for her to come back and find that Baby is gone.

One man, who saw a previous story on ColumbiaMagazine.com, called, and the family appreciates his interest. However, it was not the lead they were hoping to receive.

An earlier note on Baby: He went missing Sunday, October 28th in the vicinity of Hwy. 55, near the former Handy Andy's. Baby is a large, male orange striped cat.He has no collar. Please call (270) 384-6361 or (270) 634-1065 and ask for Phyllis, if you should see Baby. Baby is not used to being outside, and it is cold out there. Your help will be forever appreciated and remembered! Thanks!

Gas Price Drumbeat: Still doing it to us

Editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I just checked gas prices on the internet and all around us:Burkesvillle, 3 stations at $2.72; Campbellsville one station, $2.69: Glasgow, $2.74. That is at least 25 cents a gallon lower than Columbia. Seems like they are still doing it to us for some reason. Whoever finds comparable prices at other towns must not be watching the signs.

Important: Send date of birthday with emails

Some one dozen birthday notices sent to us could not be used and have had to be deleted because no dates were attached to them and no contact information was included. We make every effort to use all news sent, but sometimes, as in these cases, it is impossible.

A note: For celebration e-mails, please include all information needed to post the celebration in one e-mail. We appreciate it if celebrations are submitted in exactly the same format as we use on the Celebrations page, with very limited use of exclamation points.

Thanks. -CM
