Danny & Debbie Burris may have best Adair County oil well yet

Well blown in on Thursday night by flashlight, put on cable rig pump last night, produced some $9,000 dollars worth of crude in first 12 hours. Excitement over the third major well in the Gradyville field is producting a frenzy of activity.

By Ed Waggener

Between last night at 7:00pm and 7:00am this morning, Friday, October 19, 2007, a new oil well blown in in Thursday on the Danny and Debbie Burris Farm near Gradyville produced over $9,000.00, at $90 a barrel, worth of oil.

Danny Burris was elated. "It's pure oil," he said. "there's no water."

And an epidemic of oilfield fever has seemed to take over in the area.

Gas Price Drumbeat: Columbia sure beats California

To the Editor, ColumbiaMagazine,

I agree with Mr. Doss on gas prices here in Columbia, but I sure thank my lucky stars that I live here and not in California anymore. I just got back from a short visit there on Monday, October 15, 2007 and this (accompanying) picture indicates the gas prices I had to pay while there! I took it while traveling down I-5 south around the Gustine exit on October 14, 2007.

I just think that it could be worse, much worse!

Thanks!

s/Christine Ussery

Gas Price Drumbeat from the leader, Gerald Doss

Them thar gas prices

Editor

I had a road trip yesterday and still found gas prices out of town a lot less than here at home: Edmonton, $2.76. Tompkinsville, $2.76. When I left Cplumbia it was $2.89: upon returning it was $2.85.

This AM on ky gas prices, it is still $2.54 all around us. But then most Columbians buy gas out of town anyway. Still wondering why our gas is always higher than surrounding town. I was in Georgetown, Wednesday. Gas there was $2.57, and I for sure filled up on the way out of town.
