Revival at First General Baptist Church starts November 4, 2007

First General Baptist Church located just pass the Taylor Regional Hospital on Bear Track Rd. in Campbellsville will be having revival services starting Sunday, November 4, 2007 at 5:00pm CST with special singing by J.P. Miller formerly of the well known southern gospel group First Love. The services will begin at 6:00 pm CST Monday, November 5th through ???? with Bro. Jimmy Bunch, evangelist. School picture proofs for ACHS 9th-11th graders were given to students today. Orders are due to students' homeroom teachers by November 1, 2007.

A big variety show will be presented at the Dream Depot, Saturday, October 20, 200 7:00pmCT. There will be all kinds of great entertainment. There will be singing and dancing. Fish fry at First General Baptist Church

First General Baptist Church located on the left just past the Taylor Regional Hospital on Bear Track Rd. will be having a fish fry, Friday, October 19, 2007, at 4:00pm until 7:00 pmCT. This will be a $5 per plate all you can eat meal that will consist of fish, green beans, cole slaw, corn bread, dessert & drink. The money raised will be used for the Church Outreach Ministry to help local children and families with the upcoming Holidays. Pastor Gary Tucker and Congregation invites all.

    I just came through town and gas has gone up again now it it $2.89. I also just checked around the state and its still $2.41 all around us. That's 48 cents a gallon difference. What are our gas dealers doing to us?

    Obituary: Clyde Burton, 78

    Mr. Burton was a member of a large Adair County family. He was a logger and a farmer

    Clyde Burton, 78, a resident of Cumberland Valley Nursing Home, Burkesville, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away suddenly, Monday, October 15, 2007, at 5:39pmCT, at the Cumberland County Hospital Emergency Room.

    The funeral service will be Thursday, October 18, 2007, at 11:00amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Interment will be in Bryant Cemetery.

    EKX Airport concept terminal design unveiled

    New design is intended to assist in airline recruiting effort
    The Elizabethtown Airport Board unveiled its concept design yesterday, Monday, October 15, 2007, for a new passenger airline terminal at the Elizabethtown Regional Airport (EKX).

    Joe Yates, Chairman of the Elizabethtown Airport Board, said that the effort to restore passenger airline service at EKX is well underway and substantial support for the project has been lined up through the new Partnership for Central Kentucky Airline Service.

    Letter: KY 704 at Dug Hill needs action, now

    To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com

    There is a long-standing situation on Highway 704 about 10 miles south of Columbia, on what we call the "Dug Hill." It's very steep, with a very sharp curve, and it is very narrow. It's nothing but a miracle that more accidents have not happened there than have. As told by my father, the road way is exactly as it was when it "dug out" in the WPA days.

    Kentucky centenarian receives national honor

    James Buchanan, at 100 years of age, still has a passion for reading; he received his first book, "Boy Scouts in an Airplane," at age 10

    James Buchanan, a Bowling Green centenarian, is the first Kentucky man to be inducted into the 10-2 Talking Book Club, sponsored by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, a division of the Library of Congress (NLS).

    Buchanan is one of only seven Kentuckians inducted into the prestigious club, which was created by NLS to recognize the accomplishments of Talking Book patrons who are over 100 years old and continue to be active readers. Nationally, there have been nearly 300 people indicted into the club.

    By Larry BrannockGovernor Ernie Fletcher joined Monroe County officials to break ground on the Monroe County Family Health and Wellness Center, in Tompkinsville, a facility which will provide citizens access to fitness activities, health education and health screenings.

    "Moving Kentucky toward a more prosperous future begins with investments in the health of our citizens," Gov. Fletcher said. "The new wellness center provides Monroe County with a valuable tool for combating obesity and encouraging healthier lifestyles among children and adults in this community."
