Lebanon gets grant to build multi-purpose downtown pavilion By Larry Brannock Special ColumbiaMagazine.com Governor Ernie Fletcher today announced a $150,000 Renaissance on Main grant to the city of Lebanon to fund the construction of a multi-purpose pavilion in Lebanon's downtown historic district. "The plans for this pavilion show a true vision for economic development in downtown Lebanon," Governor Fletcher said. "Not only will the pavilion be a cornerstone for economic development, it will provide a setting for multiple events and activities that draw people downtown." Feedback: Nighttime Square photo by Pen-Architecture 101 Hi Ed, Check out the "Streamline Moderne" entry on Wikepedia, and you'll see an almost exact match for one of the Square buildings in Pen's nighttime photo. What I remember as the old Young's Rexall building closely resembles the photo in the Wikipedia entry describing this late art deco period. Jeff Green Scholars Matt Downen, Megan White, and Timothy Marr are all eligible for Kentucky Educational Excellence scholarships By Tim Ballard Three 2007 graduates of Adair County High School have been named Sen. Jeff Green Scholars. Students earn this designation by achieving a 4.0 grade point average all four years of high school and scoring at least a 28 composite on the ACT. As Sen. Jeff Green scholars, these students are eligible for $2,500 a year in Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) awards. Students may receive up to $10,000 toward their college expenses if they continue to do well in school.
