Kentucky highway crews begin final mowing cycle

Adair Countians urged to remove illegal signs placed on state right of waySpecial ColumbiaMagazine.com story

Mowing crews are out taking to Kentucky roadways for the final cycle of mowing state maintained highways.

The mowing crews are a crucial part of keeping grass and brush trimmed to improve visibility. The assistance of the public is crucial to the safety of mowing crews.

Motorists are urged to slow down and watch out for the next few weeks as our operators may have to infringe on the roadway from time to time."Signs are also a deterrent and hazard for our mowers, their equipment, and your safety," said Stephanie Daffron, Information Officer for the District 8 office.

"There are valid reasons for not placing these signs on state right of way, and we are committed to keeping our highways as safe as possible for you."

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's District Eight office, Somerset, which serves Adair County advises traffic to use caution, reduce speed, and to please refrain from placing your personal signage on state maintained right of way during this important time of the final mowing cycle on our highways for your safety.
