Feedback on Band's Regional Bands of America win

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

To make a correction in your article, Adair County did not have to win or even participate at a BOA Regional to go to Grand Nationals.

Basically as long as your bands application is one of the first 90 received, you can attend Grand Nationals.

But yes, Adair County put Columbia and Kentucky on the map. Great job.s/Bryan Sanders

Great stone wall of Columbia getting lot of interest

The coming of the Columbia Western Bypass was fraught with anxiety for Sherman & Sherman Wayne Burton but the father-son team has turned the what could have been a nightmare into a big business success. Now with clever use of available resources, they've created a salvage yard screen which puts the town on the map
By Ed WaggenerColumbiaMagazine.com story

It was just an idea that came into Sherman Wayne Burton's head, and, like a lot of such notions, it just took off and grew.

It has become the talk of Columbia. It's called "The Wall," or "The Great Wall," or "Stonehenge" or "The Stone Fence," and lots of other names, but to Sherman Wayne, it's "The Fred Flintstone Wall."

Letter: Don't play the blame game

Click here for article related to this letterTo ColumbiaMagazine.comI was wondering if the school district was going to thank the other students and teachers (the foster children, the mentally disabled or children from the detention center) for bringing up the district scores. They were quick to blame them when the last scores were low. It is sad how a community can place blame on others without first looking at themselves. Instead of playing the blame game, try and help solve the problem.

Low water levels contribute to fish kill

Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

George Rice wrote Sunday, October 7, 2004, about a fish kill which had occurred on his farm three miles out the Knifley Road from KY 55 N in Columbia, KY.

Similar kills may have happened at other small lakes and ponds around Adair County because of low water and a seasonal weather change.
