Liberty, KY, mayor looking at payroll tax. Link A story in the Liberty, KY, Casey County News online says that Liberty Mayor Steve Sweeney wants the city to consider a payroll tax. "Payroll Tax?Mayor believes city, county could use stronger revenue stream" is by Donna Carman and was published October 3, 2007. The Casey County News article mentions results of payroll taxes in Boyle, Marion, and Lincoln Counties. Neither the City of Columbia nor Adair County governments have a payroll tax now, but there is always talk about the revenue source, especially with the added jobs coming when the Super Wal-Mart store is complete at Holladay Place.
