Feedback: A question on kinship of musical Spurlocks

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

I wonder if these Spurlocks are related to other musical Spurlocks such as Ned, who plays the hammer dulcimer and has several CDs out. "Sunday Morning Sunrise" is one of my favorites. There is also a Daniel Spurlock with the Louisville Chorus.

The old Simon Finn Bridge will be missed

By Tim Kessler
Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

The old iron bridge over Russell Creek by the site of a beloved, well remembered gathering place, Simon Finn's Store, is being torn down to make way for a new, modern, more safe crossing from Adair to Green County.

The old steel truss bridge, one of the last in this area, was built in the 1920s, I believe, but someone has taken, or maybe stolen, the plate with all the information.

At DQ: B.J. Fudge recalls windfall deal with Merle Reed

My Dairy Queen Memories. Chapter 1A: Merle Reed was an astute observer and businessman, but one clause, "and all you can eat," in a labor contract almost sunk his business. It took the next round of talks to alter the course.
By Billy Joe Fudge
Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

I began working at the Dairy Queen at the ripe old age of 15 in February, 1967.

Merle Reed, the owner then, and Dad had a quail hunting session a few weeks earlier during which they apparently discussed the fact that after milking, feeding, general farming activities, going to school, doing homework, and carrying in about a half rick of wood each day (during the winter only), I might have enough leisure time to hold down at least a part-time job.
