Four Wethington brothers, their sister served in WWII

Brenda Goode sent a note about her Wethington family which is quite remarkable.

She wrote: "Could you please add that Joseph "Jodie" Wethington, Luard Wethington, Verlin Wethington, Richard Wethington and Imogene Ward all served in WWII and were brothers and sister, the children of Leonard and Mary Green Wethington. Their names are already listed. However, the above is I think a worthy mention! Thank you in advance."

Lincoln Commission Plans Two-Day Celebration in Kentucky

This note was sent along with the article which follows it: "I know this informationis beingcovered by the local media, but my dear friend Susan Frieswyk, who works in Washington at theLibrary of Congress, forwarded this announcement with its links to the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission website. This is good information to keep up with and to share with the schoolchildren we know. TheLincoln Bicentennialwill give KY a chance to shine. The lineup looks classy to me, and that's not even including the special efforts being made by other organizations, especially Kentucky Repertory Theatre at Horse Cave. Peace, s/Rob Stout." (Rev. Rob Stout contributes to ColumbiaMagazine.com writing under the pen name "Rev. Joey N. Welsh.")

Rev. Joey N. Welsh: Making it on the Broken Pieces

This essay also appeared in the Munfordville, KY, Hart County Herald, on October 2, 2005; reprinted with author permission
ANOTHER ANGLE, the occasional musings of a Kentucky pastor"
MAKING IT ON THE BROKEN PIECES

By The Rev. Joey N. Welsh

Near the end of the New Testament Book of Acts, the ship taking the Apostle Paul and others to Rome as prisoners wrecked on the shores of Malta. The vessel broke into pieces, and the passengers made it toward shore by jumping into the stormy surf; the people who couldnt swim clung to hunks of debris from the shattered ship.

Metcalfe KHD barn lucky recipient of KYTC dump truck

With two photos
Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

Due to a small surplus in equipment funds, each district across the Commonwealth will receive a new dump truck from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

For District 3, Bowling Green, Metcalfe County was the lucky recipient for the new vehicle that will also be used for salting and plowing. Metcalfe County has historically been the leader in clearing roads in snow times, a position the department has held since the days of Tom B. Janes and Glen Sparks.

Tom Chaney, Sept. 30, 2007: Patricia Cornwell

Of Writers and Their Books: Patricia Cornwell, Kentucky Repertory Theatre, and Dysfunctional Heroes
By Tom Chaney

By now, gentle reader, you should know that my reading is, to put the best face on it, eclectic. Perhaps "haphazard" is a more accurate term.

A few days ago I picked up a once or twice read novel by Patricia Cornwell featuring her corpse-cutting medical examiner, Kay Scarpetta.

Kimberly Ann & Billy Bob: Saga takes sad turn, but ends happily

With one photo

By Ed Waggener
Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

For Kimberly Ann Stargel, it was love at first sight for Billy Bob.

The relationship had a moment of separation. And Kimberly Ann was, expectedly, depressed. So depressed, her other closest loved ones became concerned for her.

You see, that first year after their first encounter had been one of those most beautiful stories of requited love.

Feedback: WWW is re-uniting, making it a small, small world

About:Small world photoWho would have thought that a phone conversation . . . inquiring about my father, several uncles and an aunt on the vets list . .. would have led to my mention that my sister had called AND e-mailed me about this site!!! In that conversation it was explained that a visiting doctor, who was from Adair County and a grad of ACHS had made her aware of this site!

Of course, she had no idea. I had discovered it, only a few weeks ago . . . would lead to this photo !!! Thanks to all who made this possible.
