Millerfield residence sustains minor kitchen fire damage By Donald Hare To ColumbiaMagazine.com Twelve Adair County Firemen who responded to a fire in the Millerfield area were able to quickly contain fire damage to a small area after batting the blaze for one hour yesterday afternoon. Adair County given low health ranking in assessment Neighboring Russell, Taylor Counties high in second quartile; Adair ranked near bottom of 3rd quartile. Motor vehicle deaths, high obesity, poor dental car among problem factors. Link to full assessment for all Kentucky Counties below. The Health of Kentucky: A County Assessment for 2007 gives Adair County a very low rank, placing the county 91st among Kentuckys 120 Counties. The report notes challenges in the areas of oral health, high school graduation rates, lung/bronchus cancer, and colorectal cancer. It cites high smoking, high obesity, low per capita income, low healt insurance, high infant mortality, and high breast cancer rates as outliers. Hiance, the daughter of Dan and Rosemary Hiance of Alexandria and a 2003 graduate of Campbell County High School, knew CU through a high school friend who was playing soccer for the Tigers, and decided to make a visit and try out for the soccer team herself. Gospel show at Star, today, benefits Baily Brown trip Today, Sunday, September 23, 2007, at 2:00pmCT, the Star Theater in Russell Springs will be having a Benefit Gospel Show, featuring talent from the Dream Depot, Adair, Russell, and Pulaski Counties. All proceeds will fund Bailey Brown's trip to compete in the little Miss USA pageant in Florida. She has won her division in the pageant at the state level and is going to the nationals. Bailey is a very sweet and talented young lady and we wish her the best as she goes forward.
