Get Healthy Kentucky encourages families to eat together

Are you looking for a way to improve your children's self-esteem, increase family unity and make sure your loved ones are getting the vitamins and nutrients they need in their diet?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, Get Healthy Kentucky encourages you to participate in National Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children. The event, observed by thousands of families across the country, will be Monday, September 24, 2007, and encourages families to have dinner together as a way to stay closer and more connected.

MS Dream Walkers Cookbooks on sale

ADAIR COUNTY PVA JUNIOR FEESE holds two cookbooks as fund raisers for the Adair County MS Dream Walkers. This summer's cookbook is "Just Crockpots," and a 3rd edition of the 2005 Soups & Salads is also available. The cookbooks are just $7.00 each and might be nice to buy now for Christmas gifts.

Duane Bonifer appointed to KY Commission on Human Rights

Lindsey Wilson official is one of eight new members appointed to 11-member Commission

Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Duane Bonifer, Director of Public Affairs, Lindsey Wilson College, to the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights.

Bonifer holds a bachelors degree in journalism with a double major in political science from the University of Kentucky. He is married to Kelli Bonifer and represents the 3rd Supreme Court District on the commission. The Bonifers have two sons, Parker and CJ. His term expires September 12, 2009.

Trinity UMC fish fry, starts at 4pmCT, today Fri. Sept. 21, 2007

Trinity United Methodist Church will have their Annual Fish Fry on Friday, September 21 from 4:00 - until?pmCT, at the Family Life Center. The menu will be fish, hush puppies, coleslaw, baked beans and desserts. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Green River Lake Cleanup was a big success

Thanks to the hard work of 316 volunteers and the support of 84 sponsors, the 21st Annual Green River Lake Lakeshore Cleanup was a record breaking success.

On Saturday, September 15, 2007 approximately 178 bags of trash, 20 tires, and everything from car hoods to bathtubs were removed from the lakeshore.

Football 5th, 6th graders in bowl game Sat., Sept. 22, 2007

The Adair County Youth Football 5th and 6th graders will be traveling on Saturday, September 22, 2007, to Glasgow, KY, to take on Edmonson Co. in a Bowl Game.

The game will begin at 2:30pmCT.

Everyone is invited to come out and support Adair County's Youth Football Program! -RYAN HARRIS

Bingo for Books draws big crowd

Six photos accompany this story

The 2nd annual Bingo for Books with grandparents and/or grandpeople was held on Thursday night, September 20, 2007, in the Col. Wm. Casey Elementary School gym.

This event was sponsored by Title I, Family Resource Center and 21st CCLC-Camp Casey.

A very large crowd came out, packed the gym and had a great time playing Bingo.

Books and goody bags were given as prizes for getting a Bingo and many went home with an armload.

Many thanks also go to LWC Bonner Leaders who have always been so willing to help us when we have family nights and parent involvement events.

There are a lot of grand people in Adair County!!

Reunion of Vietnam Veterans, Kokomo, September 2007

Columbia Utilities Gas Superintendent Joe Hare was in Kokomo, IN, with his Black Lion unit whch fought together in the Vietnam War.

The event took place this past weekend, September 15-17, 2007.

Governor breaks ground for $3.3 water intake for Jamestown

Guards against further threats to drinking water. Sen. McGaha, Rep. Hoover speak at event
Governor Ernie Fletcher broke ground on a new water intake system for the city of Jamestown a $3.3 million project the Governor authorized with emergency funding to ensure uninterrupted water service for 5,000 people.

The Governor, State Senator Vernie McGaha, and State Representative Jeff Hoover were among speakers at the ceremony, held Thursday, September 20, 2007.

Deadline for ACT sign up is today
ACHS will be holding an ACT Prep Workshop on October 23 and 24 for students taking the ACT this fall. Each session will be fron 3:00 to 5:30 at ACHS. The cost of $20 includes both sessions and ACT prep materials. The first ACT of the year is October 27. Deadline to register is September 21, 2007.
