Large group greets new Adair Agent, Nick Roy

New county agent has farm background; grew up working in family's big Holstein operation on Russell County's Gosser Ridge, a highly regarded, progressive farming area

A large crowd--over 60 people-- turned out at the Adair County Extension Center to greet the new Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture, Nick Roy.

The new agent is from Gosser Ridge in Russell County. He grew up on a large farm operation owned by his father and mother, Larry and Reva Roy. During his brief talk, Roy introduced his parents, and said,"I feel blessed to have grown up on a farm. It made me the person I am today."

NEW ADAIR COUNTY EXTENSION AGENT FOR AGRICULTURE NICK ROY, center, with his mother, Reva Roy, and father, Larry Roy. The Roys operate a dairy farm on Russell County's Gosser Ridge. The new agent told the audience at the reception held for him that the farm experience made him feel blessed. Roy has been on the job for one week now.

Obituary: Wanda Burnett, 83

Mrs. Burnett was the member of a respected Adair County family and a member of Jehovah's Witness of Campbellsville Congregation

Wanda Burnett, 83, Columbia, KY, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2007, at her home after a long illness.

A memorial service will be Saturday, September 15, 2007, at 2:00pmET/1:00pmCT at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 1605 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY. The officiating clergy will be Joe Schembari.

ACHS battles Butler to tie at half, but falters in 2nd

Adair County started out strong by scoring the first touchdown of the game with the Butler County on Friday night, September 7, 2007, at Morgantown, and continued to apply pressure on both sides of the ball throughout the first half.

At half time the the game was tied 7-7.

Most of us who are over fifty years old remember exactly where we were and what we were doing about noon on Friday, November 22, 1963, when President John F. Kennedy was murdered.

I recall that I was supervising an in-class essay project in my noon writing class for Baylor University freshmen on the third floor of the Armstrong Browning building in Waco, Texas. A colleague called me to her office next door where the radio was playing softly.

ACHS Girls Golf: L. Goodin finishes 3rd at Warren E. Invitational

Team has best score in tournament this season at Warren East. In other action this week, ACHS beats Campbellsville, drops matches to Taylor, Green

All Adair County girls played well at the Warren East Invitational at Diamond Caverns this weekend.

Adair shot a 373, their lowest team score in a tournament this season.

Jones Chapel UMC Homecoming Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007

LWC soccer women score late, often to beat Covenant 3-0

The Lindsey Wilson College womens soccer team scored three times in the final 10 minutes to beat Covenant (GA) College 3-0 today at the Covenant Classic. in Lookout Mountain, Saturday, September 8, 2007.

Lindsey Wilson freshman Kimma Parker scored the eventual game-winner at the 80:53 mark off sophomore Omolyn Davis assist to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead.

LWC soccer men defeat Lindenwood 5-3 at LW Park

A pair of Blue Raiders scored two goals each to lift the Lindsey Wilson College mens soccer team to a 5-3 win over visiting Lindenwood (MO) University in the final night of the KELME Classic at Lindsey Wilson Park, Saturday, September 8, 2007.

Lindsey Wilson senior Tiyiselani Shipalane scored two goals -- one of which was the game-winner -- in a span 2:03 and junior Nathaniel Jafta scored two first half goals to help the No. 7-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 5-0 on the season.
