2007 Wacky Quacky Duck Race: Nadir of race

The ducks had reach the point were Greg Thomas, Donna Shirley, Charles Grimsley and David Herbst were looking toward Sulphur Creek where about 175 of the races ducks were stranded. Others were stranded on a sand bar in Russell Creek. Thomas is even holding the huge duck carrier into which the stranded ducks were to be taken from the water and placed, and re-launched. Such a move would have be questionable--possible fodder for controversy for years. But, as if by a small miracle, the breezes reversed and one by one enough ducks were freed to let the race finish as planned. The duck carrier was not needed until after the race, when all of the ducks, the most expensive part of the race, were retaken for use in next years WQ Duck Race.
