It's a done deal! Wal-Mart buys 20.9 acres at Holladay Place Many believe development around interchange will get even more frenzied By Ed Waggener It's a done deal. And a huge one. A red letter day for Columbia. Don and Eddie Franklin, Marshall Loy, and Richard L. Walker, owners of Holladay Place, Inc., have sold 20.9 acres of land to Wal-Mart. The sale was completed today. The local bank for Holladay Place notified the owners at 3:52pm, Thursday, August 30, 2007, that Wal-Mart had wired the payment for the acreage. Richard Walker said that the deed to the property has now been transferred. But, many local leaders believe that the completion of the sale means a further frenzy in development around the the interchange. A strip center with stores not presently in Columbia is expected and a major new fast food presence is expected. New Deputy KY Education Secretary a Lindsey Wilson graduate New Deputy Secretary, Dr. Fred Carter, from Glasgow, as is Secretary Laura Emberton Owens, who is the daughter of Judge Tom Emberton of Edmonton, KY and who grew up in Metcalfe Co.
