The mighty Green is down to a trickle at Wild Goose Shoals

2007-08-17 - The Green River, above Tabernacle, District 1, Adair County, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener. The MIGHTY GREEN RIVER was down to a trickle, today, Friday, August 17, 2007, at Wild Goose Shoals on the Federal Land above Old Neatsville In Adair County's First Magisterial District. The drought has reduced the flowing water through the shoals to a little stream about one foot wide, not enough to hold a small Methodist sprinkling. The old timer by the white truck, A.L. Sinclair, said he had not seen the river so dry. Wild Goose Shoals is on the south side of KY 206 just North of Elkhorn and is a major goosseport for one of Canadian geese flyways. The shoals are also an important food source for the natives who catch canning fish here.
