Color Warren County Red on this map

2007-08-12 - Kentucky - Photo from Commonwealth News Center.
Adair County has been in the middle of the yellow "water shortage watch" area on this June 14, 2007, water supply status map, and is still listed in the "watch" category. But in just to the west, Warren County's situation has worsened, and would be colored reddish-orange, or in "Water Shortage Warning" category.

Drought moves nearby Warren to Water Shortage Watch

Lenny Stone says water situation is tight in Adair County, but no regular customers have had supply curtailed except for some contractors; water plant coming online October 1, will virtually solve water supply problems here

CM Edit with information from Commonwealth News Center
The Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Division of Water, has issued a water shortage warning for Warren County, Kentucky.

The warning area includes the city of Bowling Green and the surrounding communities served by Bowling Green Municipal Utilities and the Warren County Water District.

Adair County has remained in the "water shortage watch" category, one of 60 counties where water levels are low.

Adair County Water District General Manager Lenny Stone said this week that the situation has to be constantly monitored, "We're very tight," he said, adding, "but so far, we haven't had to cut any regular customers off. I have called some of the contractors and told them not to use water performing check on new plumbing intstallations this week," he said.

Barbara Armitage proposes: Freecycling (recycling)

Recycle by giving away useful items FREE: Freecycling; and yes, ColumbiaMagazine.comwill help. Freecycling ads will go in classifieds in "Miscellaneous" for now. When it catches on, we'll make a Freecycling: Free to a Good Home, classification, as suggested -Ed

By Barbara Armitage

Besides being that crazy old lady in the garden who has too many animals, I am also an avid recycler.

I have a firm belief in two things : 1. Everything must be used at least twice and, 2. If it's not useful or beautiful get rid of it.

A name is changed in Veterans List

Granddaughter says the proper name is Wallace Elza Johnson

Ed,

I was reading the list of Adair County Veterans and was happy to see my grandfather's name along side of my older brother's.

I did notice however that my grandfather's name was misspelled. Could you please correct it?

His name is Wallace Elza Johnson not Elzie Johnson. Thank you so much!

Bridgett Bailey

Your comments, corrections, and additions are wanted. And now, we are asking any who would like to share stories of wartime experiences handed down in their families. Photos are invited, as well.
