A great team effort led to the Championship.

Obituary: Lucille Sneed, 84, member Big Creek Baptist

Mrs. Sneed was the head of a large, respected Adair County family

Lucille Sneed, 84, a resident of Sunrise Manor, Hodgenville, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, July 30, 2007, at 6:50pm at Sunrise Manor.

The funeral service will be Thursday, August 2, 2007, at 11:00am CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Janes officiating.

Columbian Theatre is holding over The Simpsons

Luncheon honors retiring City employee Tiny Cowan

CU invites public to a ribbon cutting at new Louisville Campus

Event will be August 14, 2007, at CU-Louisville, 2300 Green Way, Louisville, KY

The public is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at Campbellsville University's new location of its Louisville Campus on Tuesday, August 14, at noon, Eastern time.

CU-Louisville is designed for the non-traditional student, helping single parents, bi-vocational individuals and busy professionals fulfill their calling in a Christ-centered accelerated degree program for the working adult.

Truck is totally destroyed; ACFD on scene 30 minutes

The Adair County Fire Department responded to a truck fire at 925am CT, Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 1703 Edmonton Road.

The truck belonged to Davis H. Elliott Construction Company of Lexington, KY.

Obituary: Carrie Hayes Thornton, beloved LWC professor

Visitation begins this evening, Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at First Baptist Church, Glasgow KY, from 6pm- 9pm CT. Services will be held Wednesday August 1 2007 at1pm at First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Randolph Baptist Church Cemetery.

Carrie Louvonne Hayes Thornton was born on May 7, 1955, to the late Pearline Herriford Hayes and Riley Hayes. She entered this world the eighth blessing of eleven children to this union.and was preceded in death by two brothers. Amon and Charles.

At a young age. she joined First Baptist Church of Glasgow. KY. She was active in Church Aid. Usher Board. Sunday School. Missionary. Pastor's Choir. Baptist Training Union. and she served as the Church Clerk . for many years.

KSP to conduct traffic safety checkpoints

VA Representative at Annex each 2nd Monday

Gary D. Jones, Field Representative for the KY Dept of Veterans Affairs, will be available to assist veterans in Adair County at the Courthouse Annex in Columbia on Monday August 13, 2007 (every second Monday) from 1:00pm CT through 3:00pm CT. Veterans and their families will be provided counseling and assistance in filing claims for state and federal benefits.This is a free service provided by the state of Kentucky.

Lindsey Wilson College mourns death of Carrie Thornton

"She was an amazing woman . . . she will be greatly missed" - KIMBERLY PINSON-BUECHEL

Lindsey Wilson College Communication Instructor Carrie Thornton died Friday night in Glasgow, KY, following a long battle with cancer.

She was 52.

Thornton had been a full-time member of the LWC faculty since the 1999-2000 school year.

Adair jobs picture third best in LCADD for June 2007

Adair County unemployment was up slightly from last month and a year ago for June 2007, but stood strong among Lake Cumberland Area Development District Counties for the period.

Adair County had 5.9% unemployment, up from 5.6% a year ago, and 5.7% in May 2007.

Corn toss games, other yard games on sale Friday

At ACHS Football Corn Toss Tournament,There will be a cornhole tournament at the Adair County Football field Friday, August 3, 2007 at 7pm CT. Someone will be there to sell the game boards, game bags and other yard games. Refreshments will be sold also.The winner will receive a $100.00. Mayor Bell: Sidewalk construction full blast right now

Mayor Pat Bell says that the City of Columbia is going all out on sidewalk construction this summer and fall. The big news is the $94,000 grant the City received from the State at a special ceremony at the Aspire Center in Monticello on Monday, July 23, 2007.

"But that's not all," he said, "we're going ahead with sidewalk projects the City Street Department will be building on its own, as well."

Attention ACHS Seniors: Today is deadline for photos

Tuesday, July 31st, is the last day to have your Senior pictures made if you wish to have several poses photographed.

Seniors must have their yearbook picture taken on Tuesday or on the makeup day this fall if they wish to be included in the upcoming yearbook. Pictures taken on the makeup day will only be one pose.
