Adair County gets $32,000 for county technology programs

The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board, chaired by Governor Ernie Fletcher, approved agricultural diversification projects which included $32,000 for county technology programs which assist agricultural producers in their operations. The grant was made at the KADB's monthly board meeting on July 20, 2007, at Hilton Cincinnati Airport in Florence, KY.

Dr. Robert VanErst granted tenure at CU

Dr. Robert VanEst, associate professor of education at Campbellsville University, has been granted tenure at Campbellsville University, according to Dr. Michael V. Carter, president.

VanEst has served at Campbellsville University since August 2001.

Emily Griffitt Anderson murder: Links to storiesfollowing mistrial

The Hickory NC Hickory Record has a follow-up story this morning which gives more details on the circumstances in the mistrial declared yesterday in the case of Jerry Anderson, who was on trial in Gastonia, NC, charged with the murder of former Adair Countian Emily Griffitt Anderson. Mr. Balloon man makes balloons come alive as he relays the message of the Bible. Redemption in Paintsville

The town held bad memories Kaylin and Meredith, where, as 10-year-olds, they played on an Adair County Little League team which was humbled in State Tourney action, winning only one game there. By a forfeit. It was a painful experience, enough to shake the confidence of some. But not these two.

In 2004 Kaylin Hughes and Meredith Corbin were team members on the first Adair County Little League Softball team to reach the State Tournament. They were 10 years old and the tournament was held at Paintsville.

Due to a lack of experience and knowledge the Adair team was destroyed, winning only one game by a forfeit. They never really had a chance in most of the games. The team decided then and there that they were better than that.

Adair-Clinton Flames headed to the Regional in Akron, OH!

Flames win the Kentucky Junior League State Championship going 5-0 in games, blistering 89-10 total score, to set new standard for Adair County softball!
Tournament Summary: The AC Flame out scored the opposition 89 to 10 in the five game series. The AC pitching staff averaged nearly 10 strike outs per game during the tournament and walked only eight batters in the entire tournament (four of those in the first game). It is now on to Akron, Ohio to face Illinois, Ohio, and Iowa in pool play with the two best records going on to the championship series. Coach Mendal Sexton says, We dont know how good these girls are. They have unknown potential. We will just have to wait and see.
