Co-workers ask for prayers By Ed Waggener Jaremy Austin, a worker at the Columbia Utilities Commission is in intensive care at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville as a result of a at about 7pm, July 4, 2007, motorcycle accident near Barren River Lake. Very few details have been learned about the accident, except that Austin lost control of his Honda 1100 Shadow, crashed, suffered severe injuries, and was taken to TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow. CJE office releases Short Creek Bridge closing order Effective Thursday, July 12th at 5:30 a.m. CST the Dunnville Road (CR1031) will be closed until further notice. The Adair County Fiscal Court will be replacing the bridge on Short Creek. The road will be accessible only to residents on the Adair County end and to residents on the Casey County end. Short Creek Bridge is located approximately four to five miles on the Dunnville Road from the Adair County side. Please use caution when driving on this road. Plain water is the best beverage to replace lost fluids. Sugars and electrolytes can slow the absorption process. Water makes up about two-thirds of the bodys weight and almost 75 percent of the brains weight. We lose almost 4 percent of the water in our body through our skin each day. If you are sweating, you are losing even greater amounts. This increases your need to drink fluids. Stanley and Shirley Jones 50th Anniversary dinner at SW Stanley and Shirley Jones celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, June 30, 2007, with a family meal at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Sulphur Well, KY, with a celebration cake and many gifts and well wishes. Their actual anniversary was yesterday, July 5, 2007. On July 5, 1957, they were united in marriage in Cane Valley, Kentucky. While Stanley Jones was serving in the United States Air Force, they lived in Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas and Alaska. Upon retirement, they settled back home in Columbia. They have three children: Bobby Jones, Cathy Luttrell and Tricia Janes. Stanley and Shirley Jones also have five grandsons: Garrett, Jeremy, Zachary, Christopher and William. Log cabin fire in South Adair County is total loss Adair County Firemen on scene an hour; cause under investigation By Donald Hare Adair County Fire Department Public Affairs Officer Adair County firemen were called out at 10:13 last night, Thursday, July 5, 2007, to Walnut Grove Road, to a vacant log cabin owned by Alvin Spoon. Walnut Grove Road is a connector between KY 704 and below Fairplay, KY, and the Chance Community. The structure was a total loss, and the cause is under investigation.
