Feedback: Likes logo, but not the pine To the editor I love the logo, however the scrawny pine should be replaced by some local hardwood species such as Oak or our state tree the Yellow Poplar. Maybe a little research should be put into which tree or trees to use. Billy Joe Full contact information on file Note: Amen on on the tree idea. But why restrict it to a hardwood? Why not a very representative fair hard, but softwood, Adair County cedar? After all, the cedar ought to be the Adair County national tree. Feedback: Burton Ridge is Adair County Beacon Hill A Grand Proposal: the posting of 'Burton Ridge' signs on KY 206 by the Adair County government To the editor Anyone who is an Adair Countian knows that the heart of Burton Ridge is along Road 206. A cousin's wife, who seemed very authoritative about the matter, said that Burton Ridge began just beyond Garlin going up 206 from Columbia. Burton Ridge probably ends before arriving at Neatsville. It would be nice for the Adair County government to place ''Burton Ridge' signs along Road 206. I am a proud one-quarter Burton! My grandmother, Effie Burton Grider (1896-1987), always lived near the proximity of Burton Ridge. My mother has always said that Mother Grider never wanted to live too far away from Burton Ridge. My grandmother was born at McGaha; lived most of her life at Garlin; and died in Columbia. s/E.H. Lepiarczyk Note: E.H. Lepiarczyk has written, but not yet published, what is perhaps the most in-depth work on the Burton family of Adair County which has ever been attempted. -ED re: "A new issue raised - Start end of Burton Ridge" and associated letters and re: Letter from Carol Goodin Parker, agreeing with Peewee Sinclair 2007-06-22 05:58:27 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History
