CU hosts Baptist History & Heritage Society Annual Meeting

African-Americans in Baptist history was focus of gathering

African-Americans in Baptist history was the focus of about 85 persons who attended the convention of the Baptist History & Heritage Society June 7-9, 2007 on the campus of Campbellsville University.

"We're pleased that the BH&HS chose to hold its annual meeting here as the final event in our Centennial Celebration," John Chowning said. Chowning is CU vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president. "The theme of the meeting, African-Americans in Baptist History, is very relevant to what we are seeking to do at CU."

2007 Russell Creek Tractor Show: 1937 International Truck

Lewis Garrison crosses the bridge across an inlet on the 3 acre lake at his place on KY 61 near Clay Ridge in a 1937 International 1 1/2 ton stake truck. The truck was originally sold by Van Cleeve Motors in Campbellsville. After getting new paint by Dwayne Corbin and Johnny Wayne Keltner, a restored bed by Joe Coffey with oak stakes finished by Bradshaw Cabinet. Father and son Andy and Charles Collins did the fantastic job of restoring all the mechanical parts. The truck was made to look like new with other finishing touches by Lewis Garrison himself. The bridge is one Garrison moved from Summer Shade in Green County. Already, with only a half-dozen or so outside tractors on the grounds, there are about 75 on display. Tomorrow, Saturday, June 16, 2007, the number will double or triple, Garrison expects, when the 11th Annual Russell Creek Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Show gets underway early in the morning at Garrison Construction Co.

Milby Family at Doyle Rexroat Picnic Grounds

There will be a free outdoor gospel singing in Russell County hosted by Russell Springs' own "Heirs By Grace" . Guest group will be the "Milby Family" from Hodgenville, KY. This singing will be held at Doyle Rexroat Picnic Grounds just off HWY 76 on D Rexroat RD. Bring your lawn chairs for a wonderful evening of gospel music by two of the premier groups in the area! LEWIS GARRISON'S 11th ANNUAL RUSSELL CREEK ANTIQUE GAS ENGINE & TRACTOR SHOW will be Saturday, June 16, 2007, starting at 10am CT. The show is held at Garrison construction Company, 7 miles north of Columbia, KY on KY 61 at Clay Ridge, between Columbia and Greensburg, KY. There will a Kiddy Tractor pull at 1:00pm CT with awards for first and second places. Other contests include Slow-go, egg on spoon, a barrell roll, and ball-in-bucket. Trophies will be awarded for games and a People's Choice Award will be presented. Food and drinks will be available on the Grounds. AG Greg Stumbo settles with ChoicePoint

Case involves loss of consumers personally identifiable information. Information below for Kentuckians who may be eligible to recover damages

Commonwealth News Service story

Attorney General Greg Stumbo, along with the attorneys general of 43 other states, announced a settlement on Thursday, June 14, 2007, with ChoicePoint to resolve allegations that the company failed to adequately maintain the privacy and security of consumers' personally identifiable information that was in its control.

ChoicePoint is a provider of identification and credential verification services to businesses, government and non-profit organizations. ChoicePoint, among other things, collects, maintains, and distributes consumers' personally identifiable information.

Obituary: Estelle Lee Bault, 91, member CVCC

Mrs. Bault was a member of a prominent Adair County family and of the Cane Valley Christian Church

Estelle Lee Bault, 91, 120 Hilltop Lane, Columbia, KY, died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at her home.

The funeral service will be Monday, June 18, 2007, at 11:00am CT, at Grissom Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Osborn, Bro. Ivan Tucker, and Bro. Raymond Martin officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.
