Gradyville Flood 100th Anniversary: Mary Keltner house The following story first first appeared in issue 14, of Columbia Magazine's print publication, and was first posted on Columbia Magazine.com on June 16, 1997 Keltner House Used As A Morgue; Voices Sometimes Heard By Linda Waggener James Howard Keltner is the son of a survivor of the Gradyville Flood who tells his story below, and, James Howard and his wife, Mary, have restored the old Moss home in Gradyville which was used as a morgue during the flood. Bodies were laid out in the big parlor room. Caskets were hoisted in and out of the front windows because the hallway was narrow. Benson Sexton named director of Freshman Experience at LWC Benson Sexton has many ties to Adair County as well as Lindsey Wilson College, a place he has come to love. United Methodists around Adair County have met Benson Sexton's father, Rev. Tommy Sexton, when he has held revivals here. Rev. Sexton's charges were in Russell County, where the family lived for seven years, and later, in Clinton County, where they spent 11 years, including Benson's school years. Benson Sexton's cousin, Rev. Bobby Sexton, was pastor of Bearwallow and Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church.He's been involved in the local community in a number of ways. He's been active in Lindsey Wilson College's Adair County Relay for Life team. And he's been a performer at the Dream Depot on a number of occasions. He's already earned an MA in Communications from WKU and plans to obtain a doctorate in communications. He means to put that degree to use in Columbia, at Lindsey Wilson College. Early Wed. a.m. collision near Coburg takes life of E-town woman Drivers flown from scene, about 8.5 miles north of Columbia An early morning two vehicle accident on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, took the life of a passenger in one vehicle and resulted in the drivers of the two vehicles being flown from the scene--one to Nashville, the other to Elizabethtown. Tiffany A. Slinker, 27, 2912 Sportsman's Lake Road, Elizabethtown, KY, was pronounced dead at the scene by Taylor County Coroner Terry Dabney. ACRD in Districts 1, 2, 5, & 7 today June 7, 2007 - Anniversary of Gradyville Flood - June 7, 1907 Road Department asks your help to stop sign vandalism We have had several road signs which have been torn down in the Milltown area. The vandals have also bent some posts over into the the road edges. One worker is out in the Milltown area, District 5, straightening the posts today. Road signs cost the county approximately $85 to replace. The ACRD mowing crews are in District 1, 2, and 7 today.
