Feedback: Old Green Co. courthouse not haunted Writer also thinks James gang never got to Spurlington, To ColumbiaMagazine.com I have long enjoyed reading of the historical Old West. It is my understanding the Jesse James gang never ventured as far north as Spurlington. Being a Green County native and life-long resident, and having been involved in numerous projects/activities in the Greensburg Old Courthouse, I have never heard the word "haunted" mentioned in relation to this grand old building. Nor can I begin to understand why it might be. Thank you. s/Lanny Tucker, Greensburg, Ky. KNIFLEY FEEDBAG, May 29, 2007: re: Mayor crisis in Knifley Note from ColumbiaMagazine.com: This was received in a surreptitious manor this morning. It is submitted by a Juvenal-quoting, anonymous writer--in a great tradition of anonymous journalism--giving the Knifley paper's report on how the current Mayor crisis came to be. While we have suspicions as to who the COF is, he remains anonymous for now, because it can't be downright, 100% proven. We thought it could be run down by catching someone quoting Juvenal, but practically everybody up there does, such is the lingering influence of the late Adair County scholar John Dunbar. In the interest of hearing all sides of an issue, here tiz: hot off the mighty presses of The Knifley Feedbag. - editor, KF rival paper ColumbiaMagazine.com Knifley faces a crisis: Who'll be Mayor when no one wants to A commentary piece by COF, editor, The Knifley Feedbag After this article (Click here to refresh your recollection) ran in a previous edition of the Feed Bag, we received a lot of questions about how Daryl became mayor of Knifley, specially since the gem of Adair County doesnt even have a post office let alone articles of incorporation. For those (mainly from the big city to the South), we offer the following notes from the historic meeting that set up the opportunity. A while back (the exact date seems to be lost somewhere between slow time and fast time), the citizens met in an ad hoc town meeting at the crossroads. While bemoaning Keith Livermores retirement and the subsequent closing of Tuckers Grocery as well as the Post Office and consequent shut down of the local rumor mill, someone suggested we needed to appoint an official who would have the responsibility to keep everyone informed of the goings on as well as the on goings. Dave supposed that was the job of a mayor and the horse was out of the gate and headed down the road.
