Feedback: Train trip was ride of my life To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com I absolutely loved the photos of the Spurlington Tunnel and Trestle! Back in the early 1980's during Ham Days in Lebanon, you could "re-live" the past and take a ride on the train in the old passenger cars. I was in my early twenties and rode with my mother, Jane Mattingly, who is now deceased. It was the ride of my life!! Broommaker to show craft at Kentucky Artisan Center By Gwen Heffner On Friday, June 1, Christopher Robbins of Brodhead will demonstrate broom making from 10:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.At the age of 14, Chris Robbins began working in the Broom Shop at the Bittersweet Cabins in Renfro Valley, Kentucky, where he developed a love of broom making. Chris then had the good fortune of meeting master broom maker Jim Harmon, of Springfield, Kentucky. Mr. Harmon has been instrumental in teaching Chris the basics of broom making and has helped Chris refine his skills and acquire the equipment needed to produce brooms. ATV operator injured in collision of Chevrolet A collision between a ATV and 1992 Chevrolet resulted in injuries to the operator of the ATV.The accident occurred at 8:00pm on North Hwy 49 1 mile north of Bradfordville.Christopher Rakes, 15, Bradfordsford was admitted to Springview Hospital in Lebanon.Kentucky State Police say Rakes was operating a 2003 Honda Rancher ATV, southbound, when he swerved into the path of the 1992 Chevrolet operated by Jimmy Rakes, also southbound.Neither Jimmy Rakes nor a passenger, Jimmy Rakes III, 16, Bradfordsville, KY, were injured.
