KY State Police seek help in Raywick murder case

At around 1:19am ET, Thursday morning, May 24, 2007, the Lebanon Police Department notified Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, about a shooting at 980 Head Distillery Road, Raywick, KY, in Marion County.

At 1:45am ET, KSP officers arrived on the scene and found a deceased white female.

The suspect in this shooting is Darrell Lee Schagene, a white male, aged 50, 5'10" and 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The suspect was last seen operating a blue or bluish-green 1995 Buick Century with Kentucky license plate 669BCX.

The KSP stresses that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

Adair will participate for 1st time in reverse online auction

Internet will be used to try to save costs on winter road salt

For the first time in its history, the Adair County Fiscal Court, through the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACO) will be participating in a reverse online auction for the purchase of road salt.

"In the past," Administrative Assistant Lisa Lee said, "we only had one vendor, Cargill," and we had to tell the state how much we salt we would be using in order to assure a price."

But this year, through the reverse online auction, the county expects to have offers from a number of vendors. See the ad in the local newspaper, or go to ColumbiaMagazine.com classifieds to Public Notices. There's a link for salt vendors to contact Orbis Online for information on bidding.

Adair Co. Garden Club organizes; to meet 4th Thursdays

The Adair County Garden Club held an organizational meeting today, May 24, to meet, greet and discuss future plans.

Today we are organizing the Club after talking about it for almost a year. Im very excited, Club organizer Barbara Armitage said. Im hoping we can enjoy the relaxing environment and learn from it.

Friends for Cure RoL team bake sale Saturday at IGA

ACRD crews in Knifley area, and on Chestnut Grove RD today

The Adair County Road Department will be working in the following areas today, Thursday, May 24, 2007:

District 4: Working on the Chestnut Grove Road. Workmen are digging up the chip/seal that has broken up during the winter.

District 6 Crews will continue mowing roadsides in the Knifley and Caldwell Ridge Area.

Meanwhile, back at the County Barn: One employee will be getting the sprayer ready to start spraying some ourroadsides.

Please take extra precautions in work areas to protect yourself and the road crews. - LISA LEE, from the office of Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton.

2:00pm CT: Ribbon cutting at Day & Day

7:00pm CT: Regular special meeting Adair County Board of Education
This meeting rescheduled from Thursday, May 17, 2007. This meeting is considered a Special Regular School Board Meeting due to the change of date. The Adair County Board of Education meets at Board Conference Room, Columbia, KY. The regular monthly meetings of the Adair County Board of Education are each third Thursday, with additional meetings on the first Thursdays in March, September, October, and November.

Promising freshman from Burkesville, KY, moves up 8 places with even-par 72

PLYMOUTH, IN. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team slipped to 15th after the second round of the 56th NAIA Men's Golf National Championship played at Indiana National Golf Course.

Lindsey Wilson freshman Travis Radford leads the Blue Raiders after two rounds with a one-over par 145 (73-72).

Driver injured after swerving to miss deer on KY 80

An injury accident occurred four miles east of Edmonton on KY 80 at 8:35pm last night, Wednesday, May 23, 2007 when the driver swerved to miss a deer, overcorrected, and left the roadway.
