LWC women up 6 spots to 4th at national golf meet Krista is now tied for 2nd place By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director SAN MARCOS, CA - The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team fired the low round of the NAIA National Tournament and moved up six spots into fourth place following the second round at Lake San Marcos Country Club. The Blue Raiders shot a team-total of 307 to climb within eight strokes of co-leaders, Oklahoma City University and University of British Columbia. Adair boom continues with $19.8 million WRH project Latest mega project to be announced for Adair County comes from healthcare sector: Expansion, renovation of Westlake Regional Hospital will make all hospital beds private, greatly improving patient privacy and comfort, President Rusty Tungate says. Westlake group already has new hospital underway in Liberty, plans replacement of aging Jane Todd Crawford in Greensburg By Ed Waggener With the news by Westlake Regional Hospital of preliminary plans for a $19.8 million dollar expansion and renovation for its flagship 27 year old hospital building on Westlake Drive in Columbia, the economic development boom in Adair County in the past four years the is breaking all records. The news from Westlake was announced by Rusty Tungate, CEO and President of the Westlake Regional Hospital and its five member board of directors of Westlake Regional Hospital, who are appointed by Adair County's Judge Executive. The present board, all appointed during the tenure of Judge Jerry Vaughan, includes Chairman Mitch Harris, and members Brenda Harvey, Gerald McLean, James Evans, and Katie Campbell. Major private and public work underway and virtually assured, is now in the neighborhood of $200 million for the quadrenium when the nearly $20 million Westlake project is added to $100 million in highway construction, $20 million in new schools at Lindsey Wilson and Adair County, an expected $20-25 million investment by Wal-Mart at Holladay Place; the $10 million Adair Justice Center, and, while the the new Adair County Water Treatment Plant is physically located just outside the county boundary, its $10 million impact is almost entirely an Adair County benefit. Adair Co. High School Academic Team wins another state award Final results give Megan White 5th place finish in State Future Problem Solving competition; results make her Adair County's 4th Top-Five finisher in State Competition. Megan White has finished 5th in the State among all individuals competing in the Individual division of Future Problem Solving. The final results, which were announced yesterday, May 16, 2007 makes Megan the ACHS Academic Teams fourth top-5 finish in State competition this year. This is an unprecedented feat for Adair County Academic Team. Earlier this Spring, the teams Future Problem Solving team (members: Megan White, Matthew Downen, Katie LaVictoire, and Cody Gabbert) shared the States overall team title, and Bethany Coffey won the state title in Scenario Writing, earning them the right to compete at the International level in Colorado at the end of May. 2007-05-17 09:07:48 | Comments | Printable version
