LWC Bonner leaders give back to Bonner Foundation

PRINCETON, N.J. -- A group of 10 Lindsey Wilson College students are showing their appreciation this week to a foundation that has helped change their lives.

Ten members of the Lindsey Wilson Bonner Leaders program are spending part of this week at the foundation's headquarters, where they have met with foundation officials, talked with special guests and helped spruce up the foundation's grounds.

All parents/guardians of students who will be enrolled in the 7th & 8th grades at Adair County Middle School for the 2007-2008 school year are encouraged to come to the school on Friday, May 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to VOTE for two (2) parent positions on the schoo;s SBDM Council. Feedback: ACHS tech students do remarkable installation

Principal has praise for Teacher Chad Parnell, student engineer Kyle Loy, and team
To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine: Today at Col. Wm. Casey a team of ACHS students, including Kyle Loy, led by Chad Parnell, delivered, assembled, and installed new computers at Col. Wm. Casey. They had our entire lab of 25 workstations set-up and programmed for use in around 2 hours. They also delivered the new and former lab computers to classrooms and set them up as well.

They did a remarkable job.

They are a tremendous asset to our school and our district.

Break in redbud case comes with two arrests today

Officer Brad Scholl follows tip; arrests, jails two young Columbia men

There's been a break in the newly planted redbuds in front of IGA vandalism case.

Acting on information given in response to the $500 reward posted by Columbia Mayor Patrick R. Bell on behalf of the City of Columbia, city police arrested Ronnie Stone, JR, 26, and Terry Aaron, 19, both Columbia residents, today, Wednesday, May 16, 2007.

Stone and Aaron were charged with criminal mischief 3rd degree and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. They were expected to be out quickly, however, as bail was set at only $500, cash.

ACHS tech students place FIRST in state competition

Latasha Padgett, Kaci Slaven receive First Place in Help Desk Service event; Kyle Lyle recognized. Matt Compton earns spot in finals of gaming competition and finishes in top ten.

On Thursday, May 10th, more than 2,500 students of all ages traveled to Lexington to compete at the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) State Championship.

Two ACHS sophomores, Latasha Padgett and Kaci Slaven, competed in the Help Desk Service event and received First Place.

Don Wayne Hagy, 52, of (the Dunnville Community) 4537 Dunnville Road, Dunnville, KY passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at this home.

Columbia man arrested after foot chase through cemetery

Southern States had called complaint of someone being in one of their trucks

A 15-minute foot chase from Southern States on Merchant Street through the Columbia City Cemetery ended with the arrest of 28 year old Lucas Parnell, Columbia, KY, near the Columbia sewer plant on Russell Creek.

But what had started as a somewhat routine call led to 15 minutes of excitement for three police officers and a State Fire Marshall who was at the Columbia Adair County Fire Department station on Merchant Street.

Library director Jessee to speak at Rotary May 21, 2007

Leeann Jessee, Director of the Adair County Public Library, will be speaking to the Columbia Rotary Club on Monday, May 21, 2007, at 6:00pm CT, at Lindsey Wilson's Cranmer Dining Center.

Leeann has three new programs in the planning stages for Adair County. Each of them is aggressive and innovative and designed to encourage both children and adults to enjoy reading.

Driver injured after car hydroplanes on LBN, hits rock wall

Brittany Kimberland, 20, Columbia, KY, was treated and released at Westlake Regional Hospital after her 2001 Ford Focus hydroplaned and struck a rock wall on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, nine miles west of Columbia.

The accident occurred this morning, Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at 8:58am. Trooper B.J. Burton of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, investigated the accident.

$415,106.00 repaving at airport just weeks away

The Columbia-Adair County Airport Board (CACAB) members met yesterday, Tuesday evening, May 15, 2007, and said over $400,000 in runway repaving is expected to begin within a couple of weeks at the Columbia-Adair County Airport.

The $415,106 contract, proposed by Gaddie-Shamrock of Columbia, is funded through a triple partnership between the Kentucky Department of Aviation and the CACAB -- which includes the City of Columbia and the County of Adair.

LWC Men, Women advance in NAIA Tennis Nationals

Lindsey Wilson sophomores Natalie Yakimovich and Fadzai Mawisire combined for three points in the women's 5-0 win over Union

MOBILE, AL - The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's tennis teams advanced into the NAIA National Tournament's quarterfinals with second-round wins today at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The fourth-seeded Lindsey Wilson women beat unseeded Union (KY) College 5-0 to advance into the final eight against fifth-seeded Vanguard (Calif.) University on Wednesday.

Krista 3rd after round one in NAIA National Tournament

LWC Team in 10th place after yesterday's play at Lake San Marcos County Club, San Marcos, CA

SAN MARCOS, CA -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team is tied for 10th after the first round of the NAIA National Tournament being played at Lake San Marcos Country Club.

The Blue Raiders' team-total of 325 is 11 strokes behind two-time defending national champion Oklahoma City University and University of British Columbia who is tied atop the tournament with a 314.

Lindsey Wilson freshman Krista Burton is third after the first round with a two-over par 74 over the 6,073-yard, par 72, Lake San Marcos course.
