Sheriff Ralph Curry arrested Priscilla Rodgers of P.D. Pyles Road, Columbia, KY, Monday, May 14, 2007,

Rodgers was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substance 1st degree, and possession of controlled substance 2nd Degree.

Jeanette Aaron, excellence Award winner at YDC since 2001

Adair Youth Development Center Educator Jeanette Aaron, of Glensfork, KY, has been named as One of Three Adair County recipients for the Campbellsville University Excellence in Teaching Award.

The awards were presented in ceremonies at Campbellsville University on Saturday, May 12, 2007.

Governor will appear at 3 venues in Columbia today

Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton's office has announced the schedule for today's visit to Columbia today.

At 10:45am CT, the Governor will be at the Groundbreaking ceremonies at Adair County Elementary School (ACES). A tree planting is sandwiched in following the groundbreaking, then the Governor will appear at a purely political affair at the Adair County Fairgrounds at 11:45am CT.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. 150 educators from across Kentucky received awards from Campbellsville University in partnership with Lexington's CBS-affiliate WKYT-TV at the 21st annual Excellence in Teaching Awards Program Saturday, May 12, 2007, in the Winters Dining Hall in the E. Bruce Heilman Student Complex.

Flags lowered for Peace Officers Memorial Day

Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff for today, Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Men and women across Kentucky and our nation show courage and dedication each and every day as they work to protect our citizens and keep our communities safe, said Governor Fletcher. It is fitting that we take time to celebrate their commitment and remember those fallen officers who sacrificed their lives while protecting others.

Governor Fletcher has also proclaimed May 13-19, 2007, as Peace Officers Memorial Week in Kentucky. Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday.

LWC Tennis men, women play today in National Championships

Men's Tennis faces Point Loma Nazarene on Tuesday for a berth into quarterfinals

MOBILE, AL - The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's tennis teams earned first-round byes in the NAIA Tennis National Championships and will begin play on Tuesday at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The Lindsey Wilson women's team received the No. 4 seed and faces unseeded Union (KY) College -- who beat Shorter (GA) College today 5-4 -- at 1:00pm CT on today, Tuesday, May 15, 2007.

10:45am CT: Governor Ernie Fletcher will be at groundbreaking
Governor Ernie Fletcher will be the guest of honor at a groundbreaking ceremony for Columbia's Western Bypass. The event will be held in front of the Adair County Elementary School at 10:45am CT, Tuesday, May 15, 2007. More details will be posted as received.

11:45am CT: Governor at Fairgrounds for re-election rally
Governor Ernie Fletcher will be in Columbia on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at 11:45am CT on a bus tour with a a hotdog roast and re-election rally at the Adair County Fairgrounds.

11:45am CT: Chamber of Commerce meeting
The monthly meeting of the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce will be Tuesday, May 15, 2007, beginning at 11:45am CT in the lower level of the Chamber building, located at 201 Burkesville St. A luncheon will be catered at a cost of $7.50 payable at the door. Reservations must be made by calling the Chamber office at 384-6020 no later than 4:30pm CT Thursday May 10th. The guest speaker will be Mary Margaret Villines, Development Director, Kentucky Repertory Theatre at Horse Cave, Kentucky. -SUE STIVERS, Executive Director.

Murder of Emily Griffith Anderson: Jerry Anderson trial starts

The trial of Jerry Anderson for the murder of his wife, Adair Countian Emily Griffitt Anderson, got underway in Gastonia, NC, yesterday. Parks & Recreation agenda: Thursday, May 17, 2007

The Columbia Parks & Recreation Board will meet at the regular meeting time of 7:00pm CT, Thursday, May 17, in the Council Meeting Room at Columbia City Hall, just off the Square on Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.The agenda is as follows:
  1. Report on possible funding from the Lake Cumberland Area Development District
  2. Discuss possible small park locations
  3. Progress report on Master Plan.

The Columbia Parks & Recreation Board meets each 1st and 3rd Thursday at 7:00pm CT in City Hall. Members of the Board are Chairman Charles Grimsley and members David Herbst, Richard Phelps, Donna Shirley, and Greg Thomas.
