Cassie often wore a pink hat and under that pink hat we always saw a smiling little face. The smiles came through all the hardships and adversity that her short life had brought. Groundbreaking official: Tuesday, May 15, 2007 a 11:00am CT Governor Fletcher will appear at two Adair County events, one in a ceremonial role at Adair County Elementary School, the other purely political with a re-election campaign rally at the Fairgrounds. It's official. Governor Ernie Fletcher will be the guest of honor at a groundbreaking ceremony for Columbia's Western Bypass at 11:00am CT, Tuesday, May 15, 2007. AOC tells architect to trim 6,500 s.f. from Justice Center Bid advertising delayed a few more weeks. Courthouse still bigger than than originally planned. Building may be some plainer, but it "won't be a pole barn," architect tells Roger Stephens. Board scheduled to meet Tuesday, May 29, 2007, hoping to be ready to get advertise the project. By Ed Waggener There's another delay in the bid letting for the Adair County Justice Center, Project Development Board members learned at the group's May 7, 2007 meeting, held in the Adair Annex basement with Chair Ann Melton presiding and members Marshall Loy, Dennis Loy, and Roger Stephens providing a four member quorum. The size of the building is being cut, too, by 6,500 square feet by order of the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). ACRD working in Districts 1, 3, 4, & 6 today The Adair County Road Department will continue working on the Neat Hollow Road in District 1, which is located in the Ella Community, and grading and hauling gravel on the Mushroom Road and Antioch Roads in District 4, We are also using the side mower in District 3, and tomorrow we will begin mowing the roadsides starting in District 6 at the Pelham Branch area. Remember to drive careful in these areas. I thought this was good. ACHS '94 Dodgeball, corn toss benefits 2007 RoL The ACHS Class of '94-Craig's Classmates Relay for Life team will be having a dodgeball and corn toss tournament on Sunday, May 20th, beginning at 2:00pm CT at the Christian Life Center, 901 Hudson Street, Columbia. The dodgeball tournament will be co-ed. Entry fee is $30. Teams must have at least 6 players, 2 of which must be females. Team members must be age 16 or older. A prize will be given for the most creatively dressed team. The corn toss entry fee will be $20 per team. Admission to the event will be $3.00 at the door. KSP reports copper burglary, coincidental severe burn injury Three copper wire burglaries reported since Sunday, May 6, 2007 At approximately 1:00am, this morning, Wednesday, May 9, the Kentucky State Police in Columbia were contacted by a Kentucky Utilities employee in Marion County concerning a possible burglary of a KU and Eastern Kentucky Power substation located 2.5 miles north of Lebanon on Springfield HWY (Ky 55). Upon arrival, the KSP officers and Lebanon Police Department discovered burglary tools and burned clothing. After further investigation it was learned that an unknown person had been taken first to Flaget Hospital in Bardstown with burn injuries and had then been airlifted to Louisville. AG advises Rescue Squad on liquidation procedures Ryan Halloran, Assistant Attorney General, has advised the attorney for the Adair County Rescue Squad "not to sell any assets until a plan of distribution accounting for and properly distributing all public and charitable assets held by the corporation can be reviewed" by the office of the Kentucky attorney general. The advice was sent in a letter dated May 7, 2007, and sent to the Rescue Squad's attorney, Jay D. McShurley, Somerset, KY. The letter said that to its knowledge, the Adair County Rescue Squad has not taken any action to dissolve. The letter did not directly address the Squad's April 25, 2007 sale of its 13.5 acre headquarters site for $150,000. The letter followed requests by the Squad's chief contributor, Jim Blair, that the Attorney General investigate the sale of organization's assets.
