Public may know soon if ACRS will hold asset sale today

Adair County Rescue Squad sale at 6:00pm this evening had been reported but has not been confirmed; if there is a sale, at least two say they will protest the action

By Ed Waggener

UPDATE: At 6:00pm CT, Sunday Evening, May 6, 2007, there was no apparent activity at the Rescue Squad Building

A number of interested parties are watching the Adair County Rescue Squad building today to see if the a sale of equipment will take place at 6:00pm this evening as has been reported.

If the sale does happen, at least two persons say they will be there to protest the sale. Neither would speak on record. Both said that if a sale is attempted, they will make news by objecting, and they would, of course, expect to be identified.

Focus of attention today: Adair Rescue Squad building

2007-05-06 - Photo By Ed Waggener.
The Resue Squad Building located behind Day & Day Mill off KY 55, the Campbellsville RD, was the focus of intense interest today. Reports had circulated, but have not been confirmed, that a sale of equpment could take place this evening, Sunday, May 6, 2007. But as of 6:00pm, there was apparently no sales activity. The manner of the sale of the non-profit corporation's assets is being challenged by Jim Blair, the squad's chief benefactor over the years, and Adair County SAR Greg Thomas.

Letter: Columbian in Ohio recommends blueberry growing

To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com

Does anyone in the area grow blueberries??? They are $16.00/lb in the groceries here!! What a great crop.

If I were 20 years younger (will be 75 in 2 weeks), I would be in Adair County growing blueberries.

They are touted in the health magazines as one of the best antioxidants.

Morris Shepherd
Editor's note: Thanks, Morris Shepherd. A story by Linda Waggener about blueberry growing on Subtle Road in Metcalfe County touts blueberry growing as a new cash crop to replace tobacco. To read it, Click here

Feedback: Sympathy to Zapf family.

To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com

My sympathy goes out to the Zapf family.

My husband, Ken Peasley died last June, and my father passed away April 3rd this year, and I can't imagine how I would feel if I lost one of my kids, even though they are quite a bit older than this little second grader. I teach a couple of second graders, and love them dearly. To lose one of them would be very difficult, just as a teacher, not to mention parent!

So, may the Zapf family know you are in my prayers, and you have my deepest heart-felt sympathy. I wish we could lift the sorrow and heart pain to make it more bearable for you. May the Lord comfort you.
