Adair Spring 2007 turkey harvest Telecheck stands at 234 As the spring turkey hunting season winds down in Adair County, the latest figures show 234 birds reported to the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Telecheck. Of these, 231 are male, 3 are hens. All but one have been taken by firearms. The other one was killed with a crossbow. For the full spring season last year, 337 turkeys were taken in Adair County. Last year, all of the turkeys were harvested with firearms. This year, one turkey was taken with a crossbow. The general statewide turkey season this year started April 14 and ends Sunday, April 6, 2007. Turkey hunters may use a legal shotgun, archery or crossbow equipment. Fugitives Byron Perkins, Lee Ann Howard captured in Mexico U.S. Marshals 15 Most Wanted Byron Keith Perkins & Lea Ann Howard arrested in Puerto Vallarta LOUISVILLE, KY --(April 25, 2007) The U.S. Marshals added deadbeat dad Byron Keith Perkins and his girlfriend Lea Ann Howard to their 15 Most Wanted fugitive list on March 19, 2007 to track down the man who promised to donate a kidney to his ailing son, but skipped town instead. This callous act resulted in his being dubbed the most hated man in America. Byron Keith Perkins and Lea Ann Howard were arrested in Puerto Vallarta and were being flown to Los Angeles for a court hearing Thursday. The court appearance will be to arrange for their return to Louisville to face federal charges. KSP Post 15 issues activity report for April 2007 Adair County registered two fatal accidents within county; one accident in Washington County alone took the lives of four people; traffic deaths are up three for year to date in Area 15. Statewide, traffic deaths are up nine for the first four months of 2007. During the month of April 2007, there were eight fatalities investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington. This brings the yearly fatality count to 11 compared with eight through this same period in 2006. Charitable Gaming investigation leads to conviction in bingo case Tennessee woman working at Guthrie Senior Citizen Center gets 15 years incarceraton after OCG investigation of bingo operaton uncovered thefts A Clarksville, TN, woman who pleaded guilty to embezzling nearly $280,000 from the Guthrie Senior Citizen Centers bingo operation has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after Todd Circuit Judge Tyler Gill rejected a plea agreement that would have kept her out of jail. Paula Marie Terrones pleaded guilty March 7 to five counts in a 264-count indictment. The plea agreement called for a sentence of five years on each of five counts, to be served concurrently and probated for five years, or until the stolen money was repaid. However, during the final sentencing, Judge Gill ordered Terrones to 15 years of incarceration. Students walk five miles, sleep outside for Invisible Children By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs More than three dozen Lindsey Wilson College students, faculty and staff took an evening walk and spent the night outside last week. But it wasn't to enjoy the spring weather -- it was to raise awareness about Uganda's "Invisible Children." On Wednesday, April 25, a total of 70 members of the Lindsey Wilson community walked more than five miles south on Kentucky 55 from New Life for the Nations church back to the campus. Motorcyclist injured in collision with car on US 127 A motorcyclist was treated and released from Casey County Hospital in Liberty after being injured in a collision with a car on US 127 six miles north of Liberty, KY, on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Stanley Pfoff, 47, Liberty, was atempting a left turn on a 2005 Honda motorcycle and his motorcycle was struck by a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Amy Orberson, 25, also of Liberty. Pfoff, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to the Casey County Hospital. Neither Orberson, who was belted, nor the passenger in her vehcle, a four-year who was in a child restraint, were injured.
