Fiscal Court votes 7-0 to dismiss Deputy Jailer Tim Bradshaw

Fiscal Court votes 7-0 for the action. Adair County Regional Jailer Bug Knight's first recommendation of 30 day suspension does not get a motion; Knight's second, to dismiss, unanimously approved; action follows 2 hour executive session. Deputy's wife says any comment for her husband would come from their attorney.

By Ed Waggener

No explanation for the dismissal was given in the open session or afterward by Judge Ann Melton, County Attorney Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin, or Adair County Jailer Wm "Bug" Knight.

27 Dec 48 01 May 67
Sam its been 40 years today that you left us in that South Vietnam jungle. Your brave actions probably saved many us other Black Lion brothers from getting hurt. After fruitless searches over the years I have found your mother and brother, Johnny, just within the last week. I also have found our friend Ron Moreno and we have had a 6 hour meeting, with you being the main topic of our reminiscing. This memorial is long over due and to find the proper words are very difficult, to honor you, as you should be. Sam you gave the ultimate sacrifice for your country and all Americans and you will never be forgotten by so many.

Rest In Peace

Feedback: Memories of the blackouts in WWII

To the editor, CM:

I am old enough to remember the blackouts which Gordon Crump referred to when he wrote about the lights from Lindsey Hill.

That part of life on Jamestown Hill during World War II was scary, but also a little bit exciting. It probably seemed like a game to me, then.

I think Daddy wore some kind of armband and was outside the house maybe to watch for enemy or to to see if all the houses were dark.

Letter: Wherein ColumbiaMagazine gets bad news

Top reporter in the county wants to--but is just too busy to--aid CM news team

To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com

Just to let you know I have talked to my Mom, Versie Streeval (Article from Jason Harmon about the news scoop) and she would love to come on board, but she really didn't have enough time. After she would have called everybody else and had gotten back to you it would have been old news, anyway (ha).
