At first, our frenzied hostages try frantically and hilariously to communicate their plight to two unexpected visitors, played by Columbian Bruce Hardford and Russell Countian Adam Redmond. Whitney Mink national NAIA Softball Player of the Week By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director Lindsey Wilson College sophomore Whitney Mink has been named NAIA National Softball Player of the Week, according to the NAIA. The award is the first national player of the week for the Somerset, KY, native and the first of the season for a Lindsey Wilson softball player. She was also named NAIA Region XI and Mid-South Conference honors earlier this week. Mink went 18-for-32 at the plate during the week for a .563 batting average. She also hit four doubles, one triple and four home runs with 21 RBIs. She also scored 17 times and stole two bases as the Blue Raiders went 9-1 on the week. The Blue Raiders are 29-16 this season and 15-5 in the Mid-South Conference. Liberty cyclist taken to UK Medical Center following accident A one vehicle motorcycle accident occurred Thursday, afternoon, at approximately 3pm, five miles north of Liberty on Wilson Ridge Road. Bradley J. Callinan, 19, Liberty, KY, was operating a 1999 Honda motorcycle southbound on Wilson Ridge RD when he lost control, ran off the roadway into a ditch before overturning. Callinan was take to UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY, for treatment. No helmet was in use. The accident was investigated by Trooper Mike Woodrum, Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY. Midnight chase ends with car striking CPD cruiser Marion County man, Campbellsville woman jailed after incident On April 26, 2007, at 12:30am, a Marion County man led Columbia Police officers on a pursuit from the limits of Columbia out Hwy North 61 to the Adair and Green County line during which the vehicle left the highway, returned, and intentionally, police say, used to ram a pursuing police cruiser. The pursuit started when police attempted to a stop a 1990 Ford pickup being operated by Troy Curry, 25, Lebanon, KY. Curry refused to stop until leaving the roadway around the county line. The sessions are sponsored by CUs Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy (KHIPP) and Team Taylor County. John Chowning said all of the major candidates have been asked to participate in the forums. Former singing partner of CU alum front runner on American Idol By Ashley Sidebottom, Campbellsville University staff writer Each week, more than 30 million Americans watch American Idol, a singing competition for the next big pop star. The show holds auditions in several cities around the country and contestants face several rounds of auditions before facing the three celebrity judges, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. The auditions have never been held in Kentucky, but one of the standout performers of American Idol Season Six has a connection to Campbellsville University. Nathan Gaddis, son of Dr. Robert Gaddis, dean of CU's School of Music, and his wife, Jeanne, attended Campbellsville University in 1996-97 as a music major, but after much thought and prayer decided he was being called to do other things. Adair unemployment has dramatic turnaround in March Compiled story from information and story by Kim Saylor Brannock, Kentucky Education Cabinet FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 26, 2007) Unemployment rates fell in 104 Kentucky counties between March 2006 and March 2007, rose in 12 counties and remained the same in four counties, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training in the Education Cabinet. Adair County had a dramatic improvement over February, with the unemployment dropping almost a full percentage point, from 7.3% in February 2007 to 6.4% in March 2007.
