LWC softball, baseball conference tourney play starts Thursday By Chris Wells, Lindsey Wilson College Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, KY. The Lindsey Wilson College baseball and softball teams play in their Mid-South Conference Tournaments beginning on Thursday in Georgetown and Jeffersontown. The Blue Raider baseball team is the tournaments fourth seed and will face third-seeded University of the Cumberlands at 2:30 CDT on Thursday, April 26 at Georgetown (KY) College Baseball Field. The game is one of three first round games in the double-elimination tournament. Rep. Whitfield sponsors bill to protect contact lens customers WASHINGTON - Citing the need for stronger consumer safeguards on contact lens sales, U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-1, including Adair County) on Tuesday sponsored the Contact Lens Consumer Health Protection Act, a bill to protect consumers who buy contact lenses from third-party vendors. "Contact lenses are regulated medical devices requiring a valid prescription from a licensed doctor. Third-party vendors that overfill prescriptions or who do not verify the prescriptions they are filling endanger the health and welfare of the customers they claim to serve. This legislation will ensure the proper balance of consumer choice and the health and safety of the American public," Whitfield said. CU hosts Jody Richards, House Speaker, candidate for governor By Linda Waggener, assistant director of university communications House Speaker and Kentucky gubernatorial candidate Jody Richards was guest speaker at the April Taylor County Chamber of Commerce meeting. It occurred in conjunction with the sixth in a series of candidate forums held by Campbellsville University's Kentucky Heartland Institute for Public Policy (KHIPP) and Team Taylor County. Richards, the longest serving Speaker in the history of Kentucky, told the audience that one of his top priorities 'when elected' would be to push the Heartland Parkway.
