Columbia Police raid Jerry Smith place Friday

A search warrant conducted on Friday, April 13, 2007, at the Jerry Smith place on Parrott Avenue by officers from the Columbia Police Department netted one arrest and resulted in the seizure of alcohol and cash.

Police confiscated 25 pints of liquor and $25 in cash.

Adam Lawless, 25, Columbia, KY, was arrested and charged with illegal sale of alcohol in a dry territory, 1st offense.

The arrests were made by Columbia Police Officer Gary Roy, along with Officers Kevin Atwood, Terry Flatt, and Brad Scholl.

Casey is back at play after some tough going



2007-04-15 - Hardin County, KY - Photo By Annette Richards. Casey Richards is recovering after breaking an arm in a bit of enthusiastic play on Thursday. The break was 99%. His first doctor at Hardin Memorial just shook his head and sent Casey on to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY, where surgery was performed Fridayday, April 13, 2007. Now things look brighter. Casey is home, receiving friends. Casey is the son of Steve and Cindy Richards, and the grandson of Adair natives Jim and Annette Richards, who are thankful for all the fully answered prayers offered for Casey's recovery. Angela and Bobby Waldrop of Flaherty are Mamaw and Papaw.

CPD makes cocaine arrest following traffic stop

A traffic stop in the limits of Columbia, KY, on Friday, April 13, landed two people in jail on drug charges.

Columbia Police arrested Mona Hudson, 38, Dunnville and Steve Jenson, 46, Russell Springs, KY.

Hudson was charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a DUI suspended license.

Jensen was charged with possession of marijuana.

The arrests were made by Columbia Police Officers Kevin Atwood and Gary Roy.

Feedback: Celebrating, memorializing bridges

A poem to the old Green Hills Bridge

To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com

Your picture of the Pettys Fork Bridge crossing at the bottom of "Drive-In Hill" sure has brought back memories of old things I miss and gives me an appreciation for new things for which I am thank-ful.

Although the people, places, and things (both past and present) are plentiful; I would like to share a short poem I wrote to celebrate the new and memorialize the old Green Hills Road Bridge a few years, ago.

Knifley Christian Church Revival starts Friday, May 4, 2007

Knifley Christian Church will be having a weekend Revival on Friday, May 4, Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6, 2007 at 6:30pmCT/7:30pmET.

Dr. Terry Peer, of Louisville Bible College, will be the guest speaker.

2007 Relay for Life Luminary Order forms are available on-line as well as in local publications this year, to help make it much easier to participate to a Relay dramatic highpoint and to help fight the battle to overcome cancer

Krista Burton, LWC , lead after 1st round of IWU Spring Fling

Final round of tournament starts Sunday morning at 9:00am CT in Normal, IL

The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team battled the elements and a stellar field today at the Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Club, in Normal, IL.

The NAIA No. 3-ranked Blue Raiders lead following the first round with a team-total of 327 over the 5,908-yard, par 72 Ironwood track.

Driver injured in Half-Acre Road accident

A Russell County driver was admitted to the Russell County Hospital and cited to court for DUI 2nd following an accident one mile north of Jamestown, KY, on Half Acre Road.

The accident occurred Saturday evening, April 14, 2007 at 6:45pm. Bobby J. Garner, 42, was operating a 1989 Chevy, traveling west on Half Acre Road.

He lost control, left the roadway striking a tree, crossed back over the road, and struck a ditch. A seat belt was not in use, and Garner was partially ejected.

Trooper Donnie Richmond of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, investigated the accident.
