President of Southern Baptist Convention to be in Campbellsville

Dr. Frank Page, pastor of Taylors First Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina, and president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will be preaching at Campbellsville Baptist Church Wednesday, April 18, 2007, during the 6:30pmET/5:30pmCT worship time.

Page will also be speaking at Campbellsville University at 10:30amET/9:30CT, April 18, 2007, during the dedication of the new George W. and Marie T. Ransdell Chapel on the university campus.

Driver loses control, truck strikes parked cars

A Fountain Run driver, LaDonna Joe Hall, 23, Fountain Run, KY, was treated and released at the Monroe Medical Center following an accident at 9:30am CT, Friday, April 13, 2007, 2 miles east of Fountain Run on KY 100.

Hall was westbound on KY 100 in a 2001 Ford Ranger when she lost control, ran off the roadway, and struck two unoccupied parked cars.

Trooper Mike Dubree, Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, investigated the accident.

Pre-school Registration and Screening at ACES set

Pre-school registration and screening at the Adair County Elementary School (ACES) will be from 8:00am to 2:00pm CT, Friday, May 11, 2007, and Friday, May 18, 2007.

The child must be present on the day of registration.

16th Annual Crusade for Children Golf Tournament is May 6

By Donald Hare, Information officer, Adair County Fire Dept.

The 16th Annual Crusade for Children Golf Tournament will start Sunday, May 6, 2007, at 1:00pm at Pinewood Country Club.

All proceeds go to the WHAS Crusade for Children. All money raised in Adair County comes back to Adair County.

The event is sponsored by the Adair County Fire Department and Pinewood Country Club.

Sign-up is 12:00 noon CT. The entry payment of $25.00 per person must be in by 12:30pm.

Adair native Jennifer Furkin named LWC freshman adviser

Columbian is 2006 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College

Jennifer Furkin is the latest addition to Lindsey Wilson College's freshman advising team. As a freshman adviser, Furkin works closely with the college's first-year students as they adapt to college life. She and three fellow advisers guide students in their social, academic and leadership decisions.

"Starting out at college is scary," Furkin said. "I understand that coming from high school to college is a difficult transition. Lindsey Wilson's freshman advising program is a good team to help students." Director of Academic Success and Freshman Advising Anissa Radford said Furkin will make a strong contribution to the college's advising team.

Skywarn Weather Class, Thursday, April 19, 2007

There will be a Skywarn weather class on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at 6:00pm in the Adair County Annex Basement. The instructor for the class will be from the National Weather Service in Louisville, KY (NOAA).

This class will last approximately two-three hours and is designed to teach how to look at the skies to see how the clouds and weather help predict when a storm could be brewing. There is no charge to anyone for this class. It is free to all emergency services and citizens.

Driver loses control, vehicle strikes house

The driver of a 1990 Ford pickup lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the roadway and struck a house that was unoccupied at the time of the accident.

Rebecca Hill, 16, Russell Springs, KY, was westbound on Jericho road, 2 miles east of Russell Springs, KY, with a passenger, Nicholas Koula, 18, Russell Springs, KY. Both were taken to the Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs for treatment for minor injuries. Neither had a seatbelt in use.

The accident was investigated by Trooper B. Shepherd of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.
