Latest census estimates show strong growth along LBN Chart created by ColumbiaMagazine.com U.S. Census estimates released March 22, 2007, show that, for Adair and surrounding counties, a strong pattern of growth is along the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway. Russell County showed the greatest growth from the 2005 to 2006 estimates, followed by Adair and Metcalfe. All three counties are on the LBN. Here are the figures, in order of increased population from 2005 to 2006:

Next Wolf Creek Dam public meeting at Gainesboro, TN NASHVILLE, TENN. (March 23, 2007) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, will hold a public meeting in Gainesboro, TN, at the Jackson County High School Gymnasium, 190 Blue Devil Lane, on Tuesday, March 27, 2007. Officials will try to answer the questions of residents concerning the recent announcement to lower the lake level at Wolf Creek Dam, in Russell County, Ky., to 680 feet, in response to independent studies that have classified the dam as being high risk. Rep. Rogers announces $2.25 million to help docks WASHINGTON, DC.-U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) announced today that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' is releasing $2.25 million for a number of mitigation measures to ease the impact of reduced water levels at Lake Cumberland. These measures include extension of marina launching ramps, protection and enhancement of recreation and parking facilities, and other improvements that will retrofit existing structures to accommodate the reduction of Lake Cumberland to 680 feet.
