Inspiring season comes to close today in Rupp One of the most inspiring chapters in Adair County high school basketball history came to a close today, when the scrappiest team ever to play the game lost to the number one ranked Scott County High by a score of 68-53. At the beginning of the season, no one thought the team, which regularly starts three sophomores, would advance this far. Their finish puts them in the No. Three position in Adair County State Tournament history, just behind the 1955 State Runner Up team and the 1954 team, which closed out its season in the semi-finals. Fonthill, KY: A wonderful and peaceful place to reside An owner of historic house relates labor of love restoring 153+ year old house A happy resident of history-rich Fonthill, KYI enjoyed the "Fonthill" article very much!!! My husband, daughter, and I live in the 153+ year old house that is located right across the street from the old store. We purchased it from H.M. Smith, Jr. 17 years ago. We've done lots of remodeling and not finished yet. There is lots of history in our old house and we just love it! The house has gone through several remodeling phases. In the 1950's somebody tried to make the house look more "modern" by taking the dormers off of the second level and taking out the window seat on the first level and numerous other things. Then someone rented it for a while in the 70''s and placed carpet over the natural solid oak hardwood floors. Not to mention the solid oak staircase had 9 coats of paint on it!!!!! Also, they had torn the wrap around porch off of the front.
