Hal Rogers announces $44 million for dam repairs

WASHINGTON, DC.-U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) announced today that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide $44 million this year to continue repairs at Wolf Creek Dam which will address seepage and lead to a more stable lake level once the project is completed.

The $309 million, five-year upgrade will address a situation where the Dam has deteriorated to such a point that Lake Cumberland levels have been raised and lowered numerous times since the 1960's, and most recently, to 680 feet - a drop of 41 feet from normal levels. Repairs will include installing a new concrete diaphragm that will alleviate the problem of the porous foundation the dam was originally built on.
