Arthur Kelsay, 80, farmer

Mr. Kelsay was the patriarch of a large, respected eastern Adair County family

Arthur Kelsay, 80, 600 Arvil Burton Road, Columbia, KY passed away suddenly Friday, March 16, 2007 at his home.

The funeral service is Monday, March 19, 2007, at 1:00pm CT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Janes the officiating clergy.

Feedback: The real name is Rocky Hollow Hill

To the Editor:

Bike race through Little Cake, Wow!!!! The hill you call Little Cake Hill is The Rocky Hollow Hill. If you ever traveled over it before Gov. Nunn and Sidney Grant had it paved, it was rough and Rocky. Thus the name. Enjoy this site very much.

EMS Board needs two new appointments to function

  • Until Ann appoints Board members, only one of three appears to be qualified to sit
  • Judge Executive says Adair EMS has apparently been operated in an effective, efficient manner, even though its board has apparently not met statutory requirements since 1997
  • EMS authorized to spend necessary funds to operate, protect public safety
  • Better accountability of taxing units being asked

The Adair County EMS Board, scheduled to meet Tuesday, March 13, 2007 did not do so because two of its members had not been re-appointed as required by the board's governing Adair County ordinance and Kentucky statutes.

As it turns out, Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton believes, the board only has one member, Sherry Hutchison, who meets statutory requirements. Hutchison was approved at the March 6, 2007 meeting of Fiscal Court.

LWC Singers embark on Spring Tour March 28, 2007

The Lindsey Wilson College Singers will begin their 15th-annual spring tour on March 28, 2007 in South Central Kentucky and then after a trip out West will return for an April 4, 2007 homecoming concert.

The Singers will perform at Jamestown (KY) Baptist Church in Jamestown at 6:45pm CT on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, which will officially kick off their "Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs" spring tour.

""Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs' has nothing to do with style, but with the content of the worship," Gerald Chafin said. Chafin is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Lindsey Wilson. "We are told to worship in spirit and truth. The repertoire of the concert is very appropriate for Holy Week as we approach Easter."

Dr. Patterson returns as visiting scholar at CU
