Two airlifted following Gravel Switch cycle crash Glen H. Ashcraft, 42, and a passenger, Catarina N. Ashcraft, 42, both of Gravel Switch, KY, were airlifted from the scene to UL Hospital in Louisville, following a motorcycle accident just before noon today. The accident occured at 11:40am, Saturday, March 10, 2007, 2.5 miles west of Gravel Switch on Riley-Gravel Switch Road. Glen Ashcraft was operating a 1983 Hondo Motorcycle, westbound on Riley-Gravel Switch Road, when the bike struck loose gravel and overturned. Neither the operator nor the passenger was wearing a helmet. The incident was investigated by Trooper John Boyd of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY. Driver loses control in curve, overturns A vehicle injury accident occurred four miles east of Liberty, KY, on KY 70, at 11:45am, Saturday, March 10, 2007. Lisa Carmen, 23, Kings Mountain, was eastbound in a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup on KY 70, when she lost control in a curve, struck a guardrail, and overturned. Carmen and two passengers, Audrey Carmen, 49, Kings Mountain, and Alyssia Wade, 6, Waynesburg, KY, were all belted. All received minor injuries and were to seek medical treatment, according to Trooper Brian Shepherd of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, who investigated the incident. Adair Firemen put out brush/woods fire The Adair County Fire Department received a call about a brush/woods fire at 1:25pm on Friday, March 9, 2006, to property on Hutchison Loy Road belonging to Wayne Hatcher of Columbia KY. Five firemen responded and were on the scene for about an hour, fighting a blaze which involved 2-3 acres of land. The Kentucky Division of Forestry also responded to the call.
