Adair Boys win first round game in regional tournament

Adair County beat Larue County 68-48 in the first round of the 5th District Boys Basketball Tournament tonight Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Central Hardin. Northup 3rd governor candidate to be at CU forum

REPUBLICAN ANNE NORTHUP AT CU The third in a series of gubernatorial candidate forums at Campbellsville University will feature the Hon. Anne Northup, former three-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives, at 4:00pm CT, Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center.
br>Northup, whose running mate is Columbia and Jamestown attorney Jeff Hoover, is the third gubernatorial candidate to appear at the forum. The first was Republican Gov. Ernie Fletcher. The second was Democratic candidate Jonathan Miller .

Take Back the Night Rally March 23, 2007 at LWC

To address the issue of sexual violence, students at Lindsey Wilson Colledge along with the Catherine Wilson Center and Regional Victim Services Program-Adanta have organized their 1st annual Take Back the Night Rally to be held on campus at 5:30pm CT on March 23, 2007. This event will include a keynote address, vigil, and close with an empowering rally. We would like all those interested to attend.

Drivers injured in two car accident today

Both drivers were injured in an accident which occurred this afternoon, Thursday, March 8, 2007, at 2:06pm, six miles north of Willisburg at the intersection of KY 555 and Chaplin Road.

Jessica Harmon, 25, Willisburg, KY was eastbound in a 1997 Jeep, on Chaplin RD, and pulled from the stop sign into the path of a 2002 Chevrolet operated by Angelene Ferguson, 63, Summer Shade, KY.

Harmon, who did not have a seatbelt in use, was admitted to Springview Medical Center, Lebanon, KY. Ferguson, who was belted, was treated and released at Springview.

The incidnt was investigated by Trooper Jonathan Boyd of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.

Northup will appear at KHIPP candidate forum

Five more candidates have agreed to appear

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. The third in a series of gubernatorial candidate forums at Campbellsville University will feature the Hon. Anne Northup, former five-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives and former Kentucky House of Representatives member, at 4pm ET, Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center.

The sessions are sponsored by CU's Kentucky Heartland Institute for Public Policy (KHIPP) and Team Taylor County.

Twenty-six jailed in major Clinton drug bust

Det. Scott Hammond and Det. Russell Decker, Columbia Post 15 of the KSP particpates in multi-force arrests today in the Albany, KY area. Investigation continues.

After a seven month joint investigation of illegal drug trafficking in Clinton County,the Kentucky State Police and the Albany Police Department served 30 indictment warrants.

Assisting in these arrest was the Clinton County Sheriffs Department, the ATF and the Commonwealth Detective.

The lead investigator for the Albany Police Department was Sgt. Johnny Garner. Sgt. Garner has been on special assignment for the last seven months working on under cover drug investigations in Clinton Co. KSP Det. Scott Hammond and KSP Det. Russell Decker also worked on the under cover investigation for several months

Area Residents Race to Raise Money for Katrina Relief

More than 31 people participated in the inaugural Running with the Blue Raiders, held Saturday, March 3 in Columbia. The race -- which included Lindsey Wilson College students and employees and area residents -- raised money for Lindsey Wilson's Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) club.

CU Concerto Programs To Showcase Outstanding Students

Sinclair wins in both illegal dump cases

Adair County Solid Waste Coordinator A.L. (Pee Wee) Sinclair is a happy man today. Yesterday, Wednesday, March 7, 2007, two cases in District Court, Judge Michael Loy presiding, came out as Sinclair wanted. In one case a defendant charged with illegally dumping brought in a receipt for her delivery of the bags of trash cleaned up from her dump.

In the other, Judge Loy ordered the defendant to clean up the illegal dump she had created and to submit a receipt for the trash delivered to the transfer station.
