George Kolbenschlag reports Sandhill Cranes over Columbia George Kolbenschlag wrote to Columbia Magazine today with news of more Sandhill Cranes in the area: A beautiful flight of Sandhill Cranes just flew over my house here in downtown Columbia. I would estimate there were 150-200 of them in several groups. And they were carrying on a heated conversation, presumably about whether to overnight with us. But I guess they decided it was too early to quit for the day. It is remotely possible that there was a Whooping Crane or two with them, because I understand, although a rare occurrence, a few of the whoopers that have been part of the programmed migration through here have jumped ship and joined up with Sandhills. LWC-CU join forces in fight against cancer Third Annual Cancer Classic Banquet at Lindsey Wilson raises money, awareness about disease Photos accompany this article By Emily Harlan, LWC staff writer The Lindsey Wilson College and Campbellsville University baseball teams joined forces on Friday, February 23, to host the third-annual Cancer Awareness Classic banquet. The banquet, held at Lindsey Wilson's Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, raised money for the Cancer Awareness Society and awareness about cancer. Mayor presenting ACHS Academic Team Awards of Excellence City's Highest Honor is being extended to group which has brought so much honor to City Mayor Pat Bell is sending the City's highest award, the Columbia Award of Excellence to each member of the Adair County High School Academic team. The Mayor also issued this statement: "We are so proud of the Adair County Academic Team. They are our future in economic development.
