Obituary: Jerry Ray Foster, 62, member Providence Baptist

He was a respected member of the community, who leaves a large family. He was a former employee of Kentucky Tie & Lumber Company

Jerry Ray Foster, age 62 years, of 980 Gentry Mill Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at 7:34am CT at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Thursday, February 22, 2007, at 10:00am at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronnie Turner the officiating clergy.

The Preisident-Elect is coordinating this year's Chamber Events, which culminate with Christmas in Columbia in December, but includes other biggies, the Chamber Annual Awards banquet and th Chamber Picnic.

New webpage dedicated to revised Columbia P&Z Ordinance

There is a new webpage at Kriss Lowry & Associates website which is dedicated to the revised Columbia Zoning Ordinance. The ordinance will be on the agenda of the March 2, 2007 Columbia City Council.

The proposed ordinance has been approved by the Columbia Planning & Zoning Commision and is recommended by the P&Z for passage by the City Council. The city's current Zoning Ordinance was adopted over 10 years ago, in April 1996.

Obituary: Ronald Weldon Cape, 69, retired school bus driver

Mr. Cape was a member of Glens Fork Church of the Nazarene and a longtime employee of the Adair Co. School system

Ronald Weldon Cape, 69, 320 Gentry Mill Road, Russell Springs, KY, died February 19, 2007, at 3:26pm, at the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center Emergency Room in Danville, KY.

The funeral service will be Thursday, February 22, 2007, at 11:00am CT, at Grissom Funeral Home, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jay Damron officiating.

LDH Public Service Announcement

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department has submitted the following information to help the community be prepared in the event of a disaster or natural emergency. Adair schools Local Planning Committee meets today

The Adair County Schools Local Planning Committee (LPC) will meet for an orientation at 5:30pm on Tuesday evening, February 20, 2007, in the Board of Education Conferenct Room. A public forum will be held immediately following the orientation at approximately 6:45pm.   • The Mayor and County Judge address the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce. The event starts at 11:45 at Cranmer.

  • There will be a planning session for the class reunion for ACHS 1987 at Fiesta Mexico at 6:00pm.
  • It's "Night of the Arts" at ACES, the Adair County Elementary School, starting at 5:00pm, with the PTSO meeing at 5:30pm and the Choir performing at 6:00pm.
  • There won't be a Columbia Utilities Commission meeting. That will be on Wednesday at 11:30am.
  • The Adair County Schools Local Planning Committee meets at 5:30pm CT, in the Adair County Board's conference room

    Semi overturns on LBN Monday evening

    A injury accident occurred at 8:47pm. CT on Monday night, February 19, 2007, on the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway four miles east of Russell Springs.

    Larry Dean Matthews, 48, Whitehouse, TN, was operating a 2007 Volvo Tractor and trailer, traveling east on the parkway. The driver lost control, the vehicle entered the median, he overcorrected, and truck overturned.
