The Old Log Church: Memories of the sweet, sweet sound of Gospel Music

"Amazing how many crystal-clear memories are revisited

By Charlotte Burton Scott

Thank you for showing photos of the old Log Church and Sulphur Creek. The photos instantly transported me back in time about three decades to when most cars on Burton Ridge were washed by hand in the shallow part of Sulphur Creek.

And I remember we always stopped at the store on the way to Sulphur Creek, either Elzie Burton's store or Mr. Pete McQueary's store to buy a bar of Ivory soap to take with us (because it floated in the creek) and some lunch--- usually pickled bologna (which we called pickled dog), crackers, and a moon pie.

Campbellsville University Centennial paintings for sale

By Joan C. McKinney, director of university communications.

Campbellsville University is offering a centennial painting for sale.

"From Dreams to Reality," a watercolor depiction of the 100-year history of Campbellsville University, was painted by Billie Sue Kibbons, a 1975 alumna from Campbellsville. Kibbons has an art studio in her home. She is the wife of Dr. Jerry Kibbons, a professor emeritus in Christian studies at Campbellsville University.

The painting portrays the 100 years of history of Campbellsville Universitys existence. It illustrates everything from the college founding, disastrous fire of the Administration Building in the late 1930s, the position of the Maple Trail to the current arrangement of the University, with the addition of the many new buildings.
