Core drilling estimate comes in under $9,000, will proceed

Eight additional borings with soil, bedrock results before February 15, 2007 meeting

By Ed Waggener

Adair County Judge Ann Melton signed off today, Friday, February 2, 2007 to have $8,625.00 in new core drilling on the Campbellsville & Merchant ST site of the the Adair County Justice Center.

The Judge Executive had been authorized to proceed with the work at the January 2007 meeting of the Adair County Justice Center Project Development Board if the estimates were under $9,000. The new tests became necessary when core drillings for the building's original siting on the lot showed a mushy underground which would have add enough costs to correct to bust the budget.

For letter referred to below, Click here
To the editor, CM

May I say a big AMEN to this letter. It is very frustating for those of us who try to obey the rules of parking and driving to see it abused on a regular basis.

Letter: Parking situation downtown not only problem

For letter referred to below, Click here
To the editor, CM
The parking problem is more than just that situation. I get so tired of seeing people park right up next to the grocery store, in the fire lane, when there are spots open in the lot. People act as if they are too good to find a real parking spot in the lot and - heaven forbid - walk a few more feet to the store. Do those of you who do that not know that it's illegal? What if the fire truck or ambulance needed to park there and you were blocking it? I also get tired of people thinking they can just stop in the middle of the road and talk. Once again, park in a real space and talk if you must have a conversation. Finally, why do people think it's okay to block others in by parking behind them? If there's not a spot right there find another one and, once again, get out and walk to where you need to go. A little walking will not kill you.
Kathryn
