Grassy Springs Bridge to be replaced

Travis Kimbler and Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton went over the challenges which might be expected in the tear-down and haul-away of the condemned Grassy Springs Road. The bow in the bridge floor is evident, as are the problems with the pier. The white sign at the far-end says, announces, on the other side, the new 3-ton limit. The far road is the Christine bound end of the bridge.

Pianist Calvin Taylor first in LWC spring cultural events

COLUMBIA, KY -- Lindsey Wilson College's spring 2007 cultural affairs schedule will kick off on February 5, 2007, with pianist Calvin Taylor.

The pianist will perform at 7:00pm CT on Monday, February 5, 2007 in W. W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Ann says new Grassy Springs Bridge may be only weeks away

Fletcher administration sending $102,261.18 grant she requested. Adair County Road Department will construct bridge, with only tear-out, haul-away contracted. Safety concerns being closely monitored, with school busses already re-routed, 3-ton limit signs up

"The news that the Grassy Springs Bridge would need replacing came on my first day in office," Judge Ann Melton said today in giving details at the bridge in an scheduled on-site visit.

"The State bridge inspectors found that the middle beam was weakened, that it would have to be replaced," she said. "That was my first good news," she said, tongue-in-cheek.

Good to hear that the folks from LWC will be visiting Spain in the fall. As you may have surmised from his book "Secrets Of The Painter," my son Matt has spent a good deal of the last twenty five years "visiting" The El Prado and everything else worth seeing here in Spain (and most of Europe--today he is snowed in, in Catalunia).

All roads lead to McGaha today. At 10:00am CT, Judge Ann Melton will hold a press briefing and bidder information conference at the Grassy Springs Bridge span.

If you have time, attending the conference could be an informative session on several accounts.

LWC Women Win 70-56, CU Men Win 64-55

Split doubleheader at Biggers last night

COLUMBIA, KY -- The Lindsey Wilson College mens and womens basketball teams split a doubleheader with Campbellsville (KY) University last night, Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raider women remained perfect in conference play with a 70-56 win over the Lady Tiger, while the Blue Raider men fell to Campbellsville 64-55 in the nightcap.
